Several reasons: You need to be examined to determine if your lump is tooth or gum related. In some instances a biopsy is needed to determine the condition. Seek examination asap.

Please clarify: Not sure hat you are asking. But if your symptoms are resolved, and there is still a small lump behind the tonsil, then keep your followup visits with your doctor who can monitor you. If that lump is an abcess, that would be a problem that your doctor can identify and treat.

I'm 25 and I have a throat 'lump' on the right side where my tonsil used to be. Not painful, but I can feel it when I swallow. What could it be?

ENT Consult: I suggest that you see an ear nose and throat specialist for a thorough evaluation. Without being an expert in the field and not being able to clinically examine you in person, no one can give you an accurate answer.

Lymph tissue: Hello. The lymph tissue located around the tonsillar tissue becomes inflamed and painful with infection. Sometimes tonsillar tissue holds food particles which traps bacteria beneath. This can cause "micro abscesses" leading to the inflammation. Gargle with water after meals and use pain medications if needed. See your doctor for confirmation. Good luck.

Acute tonsillitis.: You need to get a rapid strep throat test. See your doctor. In the mean time do warm salt water gargle for the throat irritation to prevent the mild cough or use an over the counter throat spray for throat discomfor.

Very unlikely: Go see your doctor for an exam. Tonsil cancers are generally painless, often difficult to see by eye, and begin appearing usually in the 30s in non-smokers.

It may not be: PAIN IS RARE IN CANCER UNLESS IT IS ADVANCED. IT COULD BE TUBERCULOSIS OR OTHER INFECTIOUS REASONS. You should see your doctor and get some blood tests done too

Tonsilolith, GERD: The condition you described is likely a tonsilolith- which is mixed of food particle, debris and bacteria. Oral hygiene is very important. A constant feeling of lump on her throat likely is caused by acid reflux. Other condition like anxiety also can cause this feeling. I assume no mass was seen in the throat as she was seen by ent. Both may be connected. Try otc omeprazole. Ultimately, f/u w/ md.

Medical eval: If you have a significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see your medical provider ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Saltwater gargles are helpful. Mix a tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amount of lemon juice is good.

Bruises and viral vesicles are also posible explanations. Cancer can also cause lumps on the palate though much less frequent than the prior reasons.

What is this hard painful lump at the back of the roof of my mouth?

Lots of things: Therefore, you need to be seen by your own dentist who can determine the cause of that hard painful lump and then suggest appropriate treatment if necessary. Merely giving you a list of possibilities is not helpful in any way.
