Causes Of Pain Behind The Ear And Down The Neck
What can cause pain behind right ear that radiates down neck into arm? Pain increases with inhaling and stops when holding breath. No cold symptoms.
Radiculopathy: Pain that radiates down the arm can reflect a cervical radiculopathy (shooting pains due to a pinched nerve in the cervical spine). I'm not sure what to make of the association with breathing, although conceivably a pancoast tumor (a tumor a the top of the lungs) could cause the constellation of symptoms you describe. A tumor would be very rare, but see your physician if symptoms persist.
Iodine like taste in mouth, arm pain, and before I had a shooting sensation from behind left ear, down the neck, and into the left arm. 21 and active.
Neck spine problem: You may have a neck spine problem, which includes diagnoses like herniated disc. Consult with your doctor for evaluation.
Does the shooting pain from a heart issue/attack come from behind the left ear and down the neck into the left arm? I'm experiencing that.21and active
Not really but: The most common path for cardiac pain such as from a heart attack is either straight chest heaviness or pressure in the sternal region or a radiating pain from the chest to the left shoulder and down the arm. I've not heard the detour to the ear & neck although anything is possible. I'm concerned you have asthma as well so if this picture is new to you you should be seen for further workup.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes it could.: The nerves which give sensation to the back of the scalp come from the upper three nerve roots of your neck area. If one of these are "trapped" it could cause pain. There are a number of other causes to consider if you're having pain in that area. You should consult your physician for a full examination/evaluation.
This is called. ..: Referred pain. The pain centers in the throat and ear and TMJ are close enough that disease in one area can produce pain in the others. Ear pain does not usually refer to the throat however, it usually the other way. Some one with tonsillitis or a cancer in the throat will often complain of ear pain.

Infection: Most likely is a soft tissue infection or infected sebaceous cyst.
Woken up with tender neck, it starts from the bony bit that is behind the ear and goes down, aches to keep head up, also feel tired what could this be?
Mastoiditis: Go and get checked by your doc. You could have inflammation in the bone behind the ear called the mastoid air cells. This can refer pain to the neck and also could affect your hearing. Since you are feeling tired there is a concern there may be a possible infection with swollen glands in this area. Go get checked out.
Yes: Severe infection may have such an extensive referred pain.
