Causes Of Pain Behind Left Ear
What would cause a severe headache located behind the left ear at the base of the skull. Pain meds haven't helped. Now what? Medical history: heart surgery, diabetic, high blood pressure
Headaches : Headaches and their causes can be complicated, difficult diagnoses to make. With your past history of diabetes and high blood pressure, you should make an appointment with your doctor for a complete evaluation as soon as possible. You doctor will take a thorough history and do a neurological evaluation to try and find out what is causing your symptoms. You may want to think about the answers to some of the questions they may ask you such as: - when did it start? - how often do they happen? - are they getting more frequent or more painful? - how long do they last? - what does the headache feel like and can you point to it? - does it occur around the same time at night or does it ever happen during the day? - what other symptoms do you have and when do they occur in regards to the headache? - have you had any big life changes? - how is your lifestyle? Are you getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising? - are you taking any medications? Do you drink caffeine and how much? Answering these questions may help your doctor figure out what is causing your headaches, whether it is a serious problem or not, and how to help you. Good luck! ...Read more

A middle-ear infection can cause throbbing pain at the ear itself. ...Read more

You may need a good: A good doctor for the long haul is what you need in order to help you with your problems. I doubt that you have a pinched nerve. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a good all purpose pain medicine. If it does not control your pain well, then you may take a Motrin but not for more than once or twice as it can cause ulcers in your stomach. So you will be best served by having a primary care doctor whom you can go and see. ...Read more

It sounds confusing!: Linking a prior history of hepatitis B and/or C with these current symptoms would definitely not be something "top of mind" for me. First, you want to make sure you know your current hepatitis status: get current serologic tests. Having numbness of the leg and behind the ear suggests some systemic neurologic condition: ? MS, etc. Only a skilled diagnostician performing an in-person eval can help. ...Read more
