Pachygyria: Pachygyria is a description of the brain where an abnormal anatomical finding of enlarged gyri of the brain. The gyri are the normal foldings of the brain and if enlarged it usually means an abnormality in the brain. Commonly association with this finding can be development delays.

Pachygyria: This term, also called mild lissencephaly, refers to the surface appearance of the brain. Instead of having lots of ridges and grooves, the gyri are flattened. This can occur alone, or in association with other medical problems with varying degrees of developmental delay. I am not sure anyone has determined life span in these patients, while i would suspect it is shorter than normal but not by much. Children with this disorder do have seizures and this can sometimes shorten life span.
