Maxillary Torus: Sounds like a Torus Palatinus, or maxillary torus. Can hurt when it gets scraped or cut. Often happens with hard bread, chips, pretzels, etc. Takes a while to heal. Similar to those in your lower jaw. Good Luck. ...Read more

Muscle: Not sure where you are pressing - outside --> in, on top of gums, ??. If outside, it may be a sore / spasmed muscle. There is a sling of muscle (MTM) which wraps around this area. Possibly you have aggravated it. If so, see your Dentist to evaluate the cause. Clenching and grinding are the primary causes, and an occlusal guard can be very helpful. Good Luck. ...Read more
