I have a lump right above my leg crease in the hip area (not sure what that area is called exactly)it's been there 6 months and causes pain?

I have a lump right above my leg crease in the hip area (not sure what that area is called exactly)it's been there 6 months and causes pain?

New lump? Get seen!: It is hard to say what this could be by the limited description possible in the short questions allowed here. However, any mass that is new and does not go away in 4-6 weeks, needs to be evaluated to make sure it is nothing serious. How serious is impossible to say, but since it is causing pain and is new, you need to be examined in person soon! Good luck! ...Read more

I've noticed some swollen lymph nodes as well as a hard movable lump in my groin area with some pain in the hips. Any condition that would cause this?

Any nearby infection: Any nearby infection (leg, genitals, lower abdomen, or skin infection) can cause swelling of the inguinal lymph nodes. I would recommend seeing your doctor to determine where the infection is coming from and get appropriate treatment! Hope you feel better soon! ...Read more

Very hard lump on L pubic BONE causes pain in my whole left side of my back, hip, and pelvis. CT shows scattered bone islands. Lump feels like bone.

Very hard lump on L pubic BONE causes pain in my whole left side of my back, hip, and pelvis. CT shows scattered bone islands. Lump feels like bone.

Bone islands: are benign incidental findings, they don't cause a mass. If you had a bony or calcified mass the CT should have showed it easily. The mass you feel may be hard, but not bone. Additional imaging with mri may be useful if CT failed to provide an answer. ...Read more

I have a lump between pelvis & abdomen doctor said no hernia or tumors or cyst what could it be ? It causes pain but not when i push down to it

I have a lump between pelvis & abdomen doctor said no hernia or tumors or cyst what could it be ? It causes pain but not when i push down to it

Where exactly?: Where exactly is the lump? Between pelvis and abdomen is too vague. Is it a superficial (ie. Can you see it?) lump or is it something that is internal that was seen on an ultrasound or a ct scan? Also important to know how big it is. What type of dr told you it was not a hernia, tumor, or cyst? Did they see it or are they also answering your question based on your description? ...Read more

I have this 5 inch lump by my hip, and i was wondering what it could be. I have had this for 3 years and it gets bigger every year. And it's starting to hurt, it's about 5 inches now.

Can : Can you provide some clarification. Does it protrude out 5 inches or does it have a 5 inch diameter? What color is it? Is the lump soft or hard? Does it appear to be close to bone (i.e., hip bone) or is it more like on the abdominal wall? Is it a deep lumb or a lump that is superficial? Is there any thing which makes it protrude more? Or anything that seems to reduce the size? What makes it hurt? ...Read more

I have a painful lump on my lower right hip?

Painful lump on hip: This could be part of your normal anatomy from one of the "bumps" on your femur, the large leg bone that form part of your hip. If your unknowingly bumped it, there could be a bone bruise, or possible the fascia (connective tissue) over the area is inflamed and tight, such as with IT band syndrome or the tensor fascia lata (especially if you're a runner) Best to have it looked at/examined ...Read more

Lump on lower right side above my hip not painful but uncomfortable and is rather large. What could it be?

Few possibilities : lipoma comes to mind, but a hernia is also possible. Also could be a hematoma if u had stretched it too much or injured urself. And then more concerning things could be something to do with ovaries. Overall I suggest to see ur physician so they could do a physica exam and see if further imaging studies are required ...Read more

Im a 16 year old male and ive discovered a small lump on the left side of my hip, it is firm, but not painful, what could it be?

Im a 16 year old male and ive discovered a small lump on the left side of my hip, it is firm, but not painful, what could it be?

Possible scar tissue: A firm, non-tender lump is most likely the result of a small impact injury that caused bruising and possible bleeding in the muscle and has resulted in scar tissue. This should remain the same size or shrink with time, but it enlarges, it need evaluation. If the lump is very small and seems to be at the skin level, is is most likely a benign cyst, and can also be watched. ...Read more

I have lower spinal arthiritis, i also hyper-extend my back naturally. I have these lumps above my hips that swell up and hurt, what are they?

I have lower spinal arthiritis, i also hyper-extend my back naturally. I have these lumps above my hips that swell up and hurt, what are they?

Time for imaging: If you have any lumps that swell or hurt, it has to be imaged first in order to be diagnosed. A simple x-ray may be a good place to start, as any abnormality of bone will show up, and can be correlated with your spinal arthritis history. An MRI would show soft tissue features (muscle, tendon, cysts, etc). So , both together can yield the answers you're looking for.Until then, it's only speculati. ...Read more
