My blood work shows creatinine level quite low-.39. Since Sept, extremely weak in my muscles/fatigue easily/must rest often. What would cause this?

Many things: The low creatinine suggests that you have low muscle mass. It isn't clear if this is based on your being small or due to a concerning problem. Many things can cause this like a primary muscle problem, metabolic issues, hormonal issues, nutritional deficiency and low grade infections. You will be best served by reviewing your issues with a physician to better create a course of action. ...Read more

What causes EPO level to drop. Can it be something not serious. Kidneys scan and ceatinine level in blood normal. Got moderate anemia. Epo low. 70 yrs?

Anemia in a 70'er: The 70 year old person likely has chronic kidney disease (CKD), despite having a normal level creatinine. Have that person see a nephrologist for a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance to assess the person's kidney function. It the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is ...Read more

I have a high blood Bun level of 23 w/range 10-20 and a low blood Creatinine level of 0.65 w/range of 0.70-1.20. I'm a little confused as to meaning?

Dehydration: Were you dehydrated when the blood was drawn. If you were asked to come fasting, you may not have taken enough water. Dehydration affects BUN more than it affects creatinine. Since creatinine is normal, I would not worry about BUN. At your next test, make sure you drink water in the morning before the blood is drawn. ...Read more

I am 49 year old male in good general . A recent blood test showed bun level at 27 and creatinine level at 1.4. Should i be concerned? What are possible causes?

Dehydration?: Sounds like dehydration (if no kidney disease) as we grow younger, we cannot rely on our thirst, and have to drink by the clock... Our osmotic receptors get old before we do. ...Read more

If we donate blood to her....will it help in lowering creatinine lvl?

See below: Your mother has low hemoglobin due to kidney failure. Donating blood for her and blood transfusion into her will unfortunately not correct her kidney failure. It would be prudent for her to see a doctor as her management requires in-person evaluation and treatment. ...Read more

Got the results of a blood test. Low sodium and creatinine..I'm on lisinipril and hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). Could that have caused it? Also have pain under low-right ribs

Got the results of a blood test. Low sodium and creatinine..I'm on lisinipril and hctz (hydrochlorothiazide). Could that have caused it? Also have pain under low-right ribs

Too much alcohol: The combination of lisinopril, HCTZ, (hydrochlorothiazide) and 3 alcohol drinks a day can cause low sodium. That's too much alcohol - sorry. The pain under your right ribs may be originating in your liver or gall-bladder as both live there. That should be checked. Low creatinine (even below the lab reference) is not harmful and reflects your muscle mass and normal kidney function. (I presume you're pretty small). ...Read more

Low aldosterone ~3, normal renin. Low Na, co2, high k in blood. Creatinine 1.4-2.2 in same week. Can type 4 RTA cause this fluctuation in diabetic ckd?

I recently developed microalbuminaria with good kidney function and creatinine. I have low blood pressure and my weight is normal. I am not diabetic. Could low thyroid cause this?

I recently developed microalbuminaria with good kidney function and creatinine. I have low blood pressure and my weight is normal. I am not diabetic. Could low thyroid cause this?

Postural?: The first thing to rule out is orthostatic proteinuria. Void before going to bed; if the first-voided morning specimen is protein-free, perhaps you are just one of those folks who lose a little protein from standing up. In the absence of diabetes or renal dysfunction, microalbuminuria may not be a cause for concern. ...Read more

33 year old husbands blood creatinine level is 1.18( ref. Range is 0.50-1.20). Is this on the high end of normal, and should we be worried?

Creatinine of 1.18: You should ask your physician for her thoughts on your husband's creatinine (c) level. It is still normal and would be nice to know if were the same level last year, or if it were increasing. At this level, in the absence of an increase c level, i would speak to his physician and not be too concerned. If it is increasing see a nephrologist for better management of it. ...Read more
