Hsp: hsp doesn't cause any changes in platelet count. I am not sure what do you mean been in and out of remission. The chronic issues with hsp is the blood in the urine, butost of the time it is microscopic. Blood pressure need to be monitored. What are the possible causes of both ITP & Bernard-Soulier Syndrome in a person? What effect, if any, do they have together? Thanks for your input.
Platelet troubles: Bernard-Soulier features a small number of large platelets, lifelong and without autimmunity being a factor. In ITP, the immune system destroys platelets and those that remain are often quite large. ITP is not infection: I'm not sure what you are referring to. Itp means idiopathic thrombocytoenic purpura and is a problem with an unexplained drop is someone's platelet count. It is felt to be autoimmune. There is a theory that it can be precipitated by a viral infection- especially in kids. I'm not sure if herpes virus has specifically been linked to itp in children, but i imagine that it could be. ...Read more
Not sure that I....: Understand your question, as it seems a bit circuitous. You say that you have been diagnosed with itp, which is characterized by a low PLT count. But then you ask if the "dip causes the lower count". Of course, that answer is yes, and is the reason for the itp diagnosis in the first place. Im 21 and ive been diagnosed with Chronic ITP since i was 4, can Chronic ITP cause infertility or prevent pregnancy or cause difficulty in ttc?
