Need for examination: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you and your symptoms warrant evaluation by a physician.

Cyst: Epidermoid cysts are small bumps that develop beneath the skin on your face, neck, trunk and sometimes your genital area. Slow-growing and often painless, they rarely cause problems or need treatment unless they continue to grow.

Folliculits: An inflammation with possible infection of hair follicles. This requires medical examination and both oral and topical antibiotic therapy. Without a photo, I strongly recommend immediate medical evaluation.

Itchy legs: For itchy areas you can use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream or lotion. It is available over the counter. For the other areas that are not itchy, use eucerin lotion or cream. The skin will get itchy when it is dry. Moisturizing the skin will stop the itching. Good luck and feel better.

Skin: Hypothyroidis even uncorrected would unlikely to cause the skin lesions you described. I think at this time you need to have a work up to rule out other autoimmune diseases. Also, seeing a dermatologist would be helpful.

Fungus infection on back of neck like ring and very much itchy and it happens alwys in 3 4 months?

Fungus infection on back of neck like ring and very much itchy and it happens alwys in 3 4 months?

Ring worm: A rash that's itchy and looks like a ring is "ring worm" or a mild fungal infection of the skin. I wonder if you have a hotter, wetter environment every few months that could allow this fungus to grow? Fungi love moisture- so if you're hot and sweaty hope you could change that. An antifungal cream should wipe it out - like Clotrimazole 1% twice a day for 2 weeks. You can ask your pharmacist 4 it.

Dermatographic: This may or may not be a chronic situation. Try taking antihistamine to see if it helps. Sometimes dry skin can also cause this type of reaction and thus applying a moisturizer <3 minutes after bathing may help. If problem persists, see derm or allergist.

Itchy rash on back of neck and in hairline also on lower back?

Itchy back: You might be allergic to your shampoo or another hair care product. Without a medical exam it would be difficult to say. Consider using only a non sensitizing shampoo such as free and clear and avoid other treatments. If that doesn't work seek out a board certified allergist or dermatologist.

I have an itchy scalp and rash on back of neck, what can I use for this?

I have an itchy scalp and rash on back of neck, what can I use for this?

Depends on the cause: There are many types and causes of skin rashes that could cause itching. Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Itchy red rash on the back of neck, feels a bit painful and skin stretching, some clear and red pimple-like bumps. Mostly round quarter size patches?

Eczema vs infection: This rash could be a dry skin patch like eczema that is now becoming a superficial skin infection. It is important that this be evaluated by a physician to determine the correct treatment. Eczema can be treated with topical steroids and moisturizers while an infection requires antibiotics.

Eczema or contact: This can be either eczema or contact dermatitis. Do you color your hair? See a dermatologist or allergist. You may need to have a patch test to rule out contact allergies. Any itchy rashes any where else can indicate eczema.

Small cluster of spots on cleft of chin itchy and sore also glands in neck below chin are swollen and sore to touch. What is the likely cause?

Herpes: Sounds like herpetic lesions and the reaction of regional lymph glands! This would be more likely than not ORAL herpes ("cold sore") type. Check it out with your Primary Care Provider! Hope this helps! Dr Z

I had poison ivy/oak on back of neck and treated with topical cortisone cream. The skin feels itchy dry and flakey 3 weeks past, what should I do?

Moisturize: Apply a thick moisturizer such as vaseline to soothe the skin. If the condition continues, a steroid cream will help. Over the counter Hydrocortisone cream may not be strong enough but worth a try. If all fails, see your doctor for a prescription topical steroid.
