Sore throat: It could be especially if there is alot of pus but it is much more likely to be from another bacteria. If it is on one side it could be an abscess and that needs drainage since antibiotics are less likely to work. All and all a trip to the MD is in order. ...Read more

Jaw pain: ENT exam was normal? Usual suspects are TMJ (abnormal dental occlusion, arthritis), retro molar trigone pathology (neoplastic) especially with ETOH & smoking. This can cause some itching sensation. Tonsil neoplasm (asymmetry bothers me) or just mucosal allergy. Try Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for allergy. If in front of ear is tender with chewing, see dentist specializing in TMJ. Avoid excess chewing. ...Read more

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Most likely it is either the antibiotic or the pain medicine simply stop all the medicine and give him 25 mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and repeat every six hours you might have to call the surgeon in the morning to report the incident and to order different kind of medicine to replace the antibiotic and the pain medicine .
