Causes Of High H Cg Levels
Pregnancy or tumor: Hcg is the normal hormonal product of the placenta and so levels are high in pregnancy; a urine pregnancy test looks for hcg. However some tumors also produce hcg, so a high level in a man, or in a non-pregnant woman, strongly suggests a tumor that needs to be found and treated as soon as possible. ...Read more
Hcg levels can vary significantly in different pregnancies at different times of preg. Extremly high levels can indicate other disease processes like gestational
trophoplastc disease. The value needs to be weighed in view of the whole clinical picture. This would be best evaluated by a board certified obgyn. ...Read more
My cycle is irregular. Would HCG levels usually be high enough to show up on an hpt by the time a pregnancy is far enough along to cause spotting?
After missed period: You should do the test 4-5 days after missed period. If your cycles are irregular then do the test about three weeks after what you think was day of fruitful sex. If the result is negative, repeat the test 4-5 days later. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. ...Read more

Roughly 7wks preg. Yesterday's hCG level was a little over 118, 000. Today (23hrs later) 132, 000. Too high for 7weeks? Multiples? Further along?
No worries...: This varies amongst women. A normal level at 7 weeks is anywhere between 7, 650 to 229, 000. As long as you're having an appropriate rise in your HCG level (doubling every 48-72 hrs), then there's nothing to worry about. If you want to find out how far along, or if multiples, it's better to get an ultrasound. Make an appointment with your OB ASAP. Congrats on your pregnancy! ...Read more
Hcg levels at 4 weeks 4 days where 1300 does this seem like a high number I know its hard to tell from a single test waiting on results of 2nd test?
HSG Levels: Hcg levels rise throughout the pregnancy. I assume you are saying 4 weeks 4 days from the last menses. The levels of HCG double approximately every 48 hours. Therefore, the level may be normal. Sometimes a "high" level may indicate multiple pregnancy, getting the dates wrong or a normal pregnancy. I would get an ultrasound at 5 weeks assess the pregnancy. ...Read more

Fri Hcg level 18000. Mon 28000. Wed 38000. Just turned 6wks on Tue. My Dr is concerned its not high enough, what do you think?
Concerned: In a normal early pregnancy the HCG level should have doubled between Friday and Monday. I'm sure that is why your doctor repeated it on Wednesday and it still did not rise as much as would be expected. I would want an ultrasound to be sure the baby is in your uterus and not in a tube and that everything looks ok. This could still be a normal pregnancy but I am concerned. Good luck. ...Read more
How is it possible that hCG level of 634 be this high after only 3-4 days after jntercourse? Isn't the process much longer to get hCG produced?
HCG: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is a hormone that normally supports the development of the egg in the ovary, its release and then helps support pregnancy. However, some abnormal tissues can also produce this hormone or one very similar to it. Most pregnancy tests are based on this hormone. It use as a tumor marker requires a different setting and test system. ...Read more

Are you HCG levels normal or could it possibly be multiples? At 8dpo =13, 10dpo =57, 16dpo =1195 & 18dpo=2628. Numbers are high and doubling fast.
There is wide variation on HCG levels in normal pregnancies for the levels to be reliable indicators of multiple embryos. Examination by ultrasound would be more reliable. See this site for HCG levels.

Dpo/hcg levels: 14=233; 15=389; 16=683; 19=2821; 21=4643; 22=6533; 24=9596 (86 hrs doub. Time). Can high early hCG = earlier decline in doubling time?
Not really!: The 'doubling time' is not strict, it's a rough guide. Normal pregnancies may only go up by 2/3 in 2 days not 'twice.' furthermore each level is accurate to about +/- 15%, they are not 100%. Your numbers look normal, I wouldn't wear out your calculator doing this kind of thing. ...Read more

My hCG level is at bit high on 12th week of pregnancy. What does tht mean. Do I need to worry abt it?
Need an ultrasound: If you beta HCG is elevated, it may be normal or a sign of problems. A dramatically elevated HCG can be a "molar" pregnancy, which is a very abnormal placenta, usually without a fetus. This would be seen with ultrasound, twins will cause an elevated hcg. Sometimes fetal or placental problems can cause an elevated hcg, and again a detailed ultrasound would evaluate this. ...Read more
Would an hCG level of 634 put a pregnancy in a range of 1 week or less than a week? Is it too high for less than a week?
Hcg levels: Preg is "dated" by first day of last menses. "a wk pregnant" is technically before conception, (typically around ovulation @ day 14 depending your cycle length). You'd be "3 weeks" "ega" est. Gestational age if conception a week ago. Nml HCG doubles every 48-72 hours till 8-11 weeks ega. Rough:3 wks: 5-50 4wk 5-486, 5wk:18-7340 (labs vary don't fret early variation common, us can confirm ega). ...Read more
