I have numbness on the left side of my genital area. What is the cause, and how do I treat it?

I have numbness on the left side of my genital area. What is the cause, and how do I treat it?

Depends: Could be neuropathy from diabetes, problem at 3rd sacral spinal root, a pelvic mass (benign or malignant), or other things. You "treat" this problem by identifying the cause and if possible removing it. Some causes can be "treated, " others (e.g. Diabetic pudendal neuropathy) can't. At your age, you need to be examined. I have pains in my pelvis close to my genital area on the left side. The pains are either, a burning sensation, numbness, or just a sharp, deep pain.

Get to a Urologist: Those problems could represent impingement of a nerve or richly-innervated structure in the groin. A urologist would be a good start to rule out bad things. While you're waiting for the appointment, you could read online how to do a male self-examination to exclude any anatomical abnormalities. Good luck, and feel better soon! ...Read more

I had an MRI 10 days after noticing leaking of urine and strange feelings in the rectum that showed a mild central disc extrusion at L5-S1 without spinal cord compression. I have incontinence and numbness in the groin/genital area. What is this?

Some directions: Young males, age 25, do NOT develop these problems from a mild disc issue at L5-S1, and you need a neurologist to evaluate you ASAP. BUT do not delay, get this directly addressed!! ...Read more

This: This should be evaluated as soon as possible. The fact that he has problems on both lower extremities at the same time is highly suggestive of spinal cord involvement. Pelvic or perineal pain is suggestive of a cauda equina syndrome. That is problems around the L1 level of the spine. Collapsing while walking is a red flag in my book. The fact that he is 60 brings with is the possibility of a carcinoma with metastasis to the spine. See a doctor as soon as possible and get an MRI of the spine urgently. ...Read more
