This empties into the colon or large intestine (about 5 feet), which then becomes the sigmoid colon, rectum and out the anus. So, every morsel eaten ...Read more

Antibiotics: Although antibiotics can eventually cause diarrhea, they would not have that effect within the same day of receiving them. There must be another cause of your frequent stools. Perhaps it is related to whatever reason you actually received the antibiotics in the first place. If the problem persists, contact your doctor. Good luck.
Need more info.: There are so many possible causes that I can't list them all here; without more information on other symptoms, I can't narrow it down for you. I'd suggest seeing the doctor for diagnosis and any needed treatment.
Depends on you: Frequent is more frequent for you. If you always poop 3 times a day then that is normal for you. If you always poop every other day then that is normal for you. If you are a once a day popper most of the time and all of a sudden you start pooping 6 times a day, then that would be "frequent bowel movements" for example.
stool: Consult a gastroenterologist to rule out comoros or irritable bowel.
Several things: These symptoms require a thorough evaluation to find out what's going on and what can be done for you.
Yes and no: Stool is made of electrolytes, water and millions of colonic bacteria. So having bowel movements does take water and bacteria out of your body so that is a cleanse. For colonoscopies, we also do bowel cleanses which also reduces the methane concentration in the colon eliminating the possibility of explosion with electrocautery.
Is there any health benefit in having frequent bowel movements, like twice a day as appose to less frequent, like once every 3 or 4 days? Please explain, thank you very much
Bowel pattern varies: Everyone's stool pattern is different. Some people have 1 bowel movement/day and other people may have bowel movements every 3 to 4 days. The frequency of bowel movements depends on how active you are, your diet and how much water and fluids that you drink. Formed and nonpainful bowel movements are the goal. A probiotic may help with bowel movements. Any blood or hard stools is a problem.See 1 more doctor answer
Dieting and bowel mo: Depends on what kind of diet you are on, like low carb diet like atkins you may be constipated, or scanty bowel movements. Hcg diet causes constipation.Reduce calory diet, liquid diet etc all cause fewer bowel movements or constipation due to less bulk in the diet. So yes you have fewer bowel movements while dieting.
What is the question: I cannot figure out what you are asking? Does high fiber cause more frequent bowel movements? Often yes, but not in all people. Is the question if I'm having frequent bm's should I eat more fiber? Maybe. The goal for daily fiber is 25 g per day or more. Check your fiber intake (count for a day or two), then increase as needed to get over 25 g per day. Most people in U.S. Are way below that.
My husband has diabetic gut, and he is in deep pain and frequent bowel movements constantly 24/7. I am desperate to find some comfort for?
Go to MD: Dm usually causes gastroparesis and slow intestinal movement, not diarrhea unless it is an overflow diarrhea from chronic constipation and malabsorption. It just does not sound right. If he has bee on antibiotics before, worry about superinfection, or even not. It is best to have a proper diagnosis.
