POSSIBLY: Certainly, herpes zoster (shingles) can present as a severe pain along a dermatome, and can be associated with a rash. Many possibilities: I don't have enough information to provide a good answer. How long has the pain been present? Any history of injury? What worsens the pain? What makes it better? What diagnosis have you been given? How severe is the pain? What lab tests have been done?
