Kind of: The fat pads are normal structures and so they don't really heal. In an x-ray of a normal elbow, they are usually not seen as they are within the joint. When the elbow joint has extra fluid in it, they float out of the joint and are visible. Chondromalacia is a disorder of the ANTERIOR =FRONT Compartement of the knee and by itself does not usually cause pain BEHIND the knee!!

So called Hoffa fat pad syndrome is felt in the FRONT of the knee! You could still be having pain from your recent surgery.check your knee out with your Orthopedic Surgeon!
(Sounds like an EFFUSION "water on the knee"
