See dermatologist: Since it is sore, I am more concerned with an infection. Mascara is the most commonly contaminated eye product and should be replaced regularly. Inside or out?: Was the bite on the eyelid? If so, it will tend to be a little more tender than bites in other areas. Also, is the tender swelling noticeable on the inside or outside of eyelid? Could be a sty : It may be an early sty. It should be one eyelid not both that is swollen. If one the use of warm compresses four times a day for 5-10 minutes for a couple of days should help. If both lids are swollen it may be preseptal infection and you should see a doctor as you may need antibiotics.
