Causes Of Ear Lobe Swelling
My 18 months old daughter has painful tender red swelling behind her rt ear lobe. Kindly tell me causes n treatment?
Likely infected: This could be a simple skin infection or an inflamed lymph node. In either case, an evaluation may be needed. In the short term you can apply moist heat to the area in the form of a heated compress several times a day.If it is a minor issue the body may heal itself. If it worsens it will need to be seen. ...Read more

Diagnosed infected node under ear lobe on neck. Been takng bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) 4 2 days. Swelling still spreadin face&dwn neck. How long 4 meds to wrk? Or concern?
Probably concern: The rule of thumb for any antibiotic to work is 72 hours. In your case it's been less than that, however, the fact the disease is getting worse is a red flag. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) may not be a right choice for a swollen lymph node. It is a good choice for a skin infection, but yours appears to be related to the lymph node. I'd call the prescribing physician and report your symptoms. ...Read more

Medicine is far to complicated to try to give medical
advice based on one sentence of information. You may find an online consultation at Health Tap helpful. Voice, video or an INBOX Text consult are best. Parotid gland?: Pain and swelling along the jawline and below the ear sounds to me like it could be due to the parotid salivary gland, which is right there. Could be many things wrong with the gland, from infection to sjogren's syndrome to a salivary gland stone. If it's due to the gland, it'll probably be worse right after you eat, since that's when the gland is stimulated to contract and release saliva. ...Read more

Depends on the cause: If tender and red, occuring soon after piercing, it could represent infection: should be treated with antibiotics and perhaps will require removal of the earring. If late, nontender and firm, may be a keloid, which requires different sorts of treatment: excision, steroid injection, pressure, low dose radiation. ...Read more

This infection is certainly the cause of the swollen nodes. If these nodes do not improve as the dental infection does then you need to followup for evaluation. ...Read more

I have ear fullness feeling and little swelling gland at jaw since 20 days and now swelling gland will normal only I have itchy in ear what is cause?
Is it the ear?: Palpate the swelling and open and close your mouth. If it is the jaw joint you will feel it move when you open and close. Sometimes the TMJ can give ear symptoms like fullness. I would have an ENT check it out first to be sure there are no medical problems. If not, then check with a dentist who conservatively treat TMJ issues to see if that is a possible cause. ...Read more
