Cold sores: Cold sores/fever blisters are cause by the herpes simplex virus. There are 2 types—oral & genital. Either type can cause a "cold sore" although the oral type is usually involved with lip lesions. There are several otc treatments to lessen symptoms, but prescription anti-viral meds work better to clear the lesions. Perhaps but...: Cold sores are a general term and many individuals incorrectly use it to describe both canker sores\aphthous ulcers and herpetic sores. Both present differently and have different implications. Finally I would not associate those sores with "extreme" jaw pain. Probably Staph: Most boils are infections with Staphylococcus aureus, a bacteria which may be difficult to eliminate. You should see a doctor who can puncture one of these and obtain cultures to determine the organisms responsible and its sensitivity to antibiotics. That way you can be on the road to treatment.
