Regardless, if you're concerned about possible side effect from any given medication, it's best to discuss this w/your prescribing doc who can then also discuss alternatives w/you. ...Read more

Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate): Ask your dentist to write a rxn for peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate). It is an antimicrobial mouth rinse. You can rinse your brush head in hot water , then let it soak in this for 15 - 30 minutes, then rinse again and allow to dry. Can you get oral herpes from someone who u don't kiss but she gives u head but doesn't have any open sores or cold sores and I had no cuts on my d?

Possible but unlikel: Hi Roy. It's possible for someone to shed the herpes virus and be asymptomatic. People with oral herpes may secrete the virus 2% to 9% of the time when they are not having sores. That being said, if they are asymptomatic and secreting the virus, the amount of virus being shed is much less. You can be tested for infection. Can the hsv1 live on a qtip that had neosporin in it?.... I applied neosporin to my cold sore with the same qtip I used to clean my ear...

No risk, no worries: Self transfer of HSV to a new body area is rare. The immune system prevents it, so little or no risk even without neosporin. If there were some risk, the preserative in the ointment would kill the virus. However, I suggest you not use neosporin for herpes; it won't help and might even delay healting. Talk to MD about a prescription for valacyclovir to have on hand; single dose is very effective. ...Read more
