There : There are several possibilities. 1. Vascular pain-this could be arterial, which is from limited flow of blood because of atherosclerosis of the arteries, or narrowing of the arteries. This pain is usually worse with walking. It could also be venous, like a blood clot, but that pain is usually in one leg. 2. It could be nerve pain, such as a neuropathy of the nerves. 3. I have lumbar stenosis. When I sit I get a burning sensation in thighs and sometimes my knees that goes away when I stand could that be the stenosis?

YES: Characteristically, lumbar stenosis can be very position dependent, and flexion may make the symptoms transiently worsen, and extension may relieve.
