Causes Of Bruise On My Upper Leg
What can cause major bruising above the knee (thigh) & upper leg? It went away on its own (3 weeks) on a friend of mine, could it be a silent signal?
Could be normal: It's hard to say without more information. The important thing would be to determine the history and any associated symptoms. Without any other symptoms or history, it may represent normal bruising which surprisingly can sometimes present with a severe appearance and little trauma (sometimes not even remembered).
Bruise Or Contusion (Definition)
Bruises, or ecchymoses, are discolorations and tenderness of the skin or mucous membranes due to the leakage of blood from an injured blood vessel into the surrounding tissues. A serious disease called pupura presents as a cluster of small bruises called petachia. Petachia often appears as many tiny red dots clustered together, and could indicate a problem. ...Read more
Is it possible to have a severe bone bruise of the tibia cause compartment syndrome in the lower thigh of the same leg.
Compartment syndrome: Is not likely to move up to the thigh from the lower leg. The fascia of the muscles of the legs and arms is so tight that it doesn't allow for expansion in the crushed muscle so the swelling leads to pain and damage to additional muscle and can result in loss of the limb in extreme cases. Have it checked in an emergency room...Special equipment to measure increase in pressure in the muscle.
I noticed a huge bruise on my upper leg. I don't know how I got it. Don't hurt but looks nasty. Should I worry about this?
No: It will probably go away in a few weeks. Now if you have 5 or 6 large bruises on the leg, you may have a problem that needs to be evaluated

Probably: You probably have neurodermatitis. Please see your dermatologist for evaluation and to discuss treatment options.
I got bruising on my right side of upper leg when I was knocked down while playing soccer. It has been a week still not recover yet? What should I do?
Give it more time: If you are functional (doesn't hurt to move or play sports) and you're still noticing bruising, just give it more time. A larger bruise may take more than a week to resolve (and you may notice the bruise moving down your leg a little, this is normal as the blood settles). If it's still very tender or impairing you, get it checked.

Hit my upper leg on edge of table very hard a month ago. Had a huge bruise and pain but it's gone. Now I touch & feel a hard lump under skin. Hematoma?
WeAllTakeOurLumps: Yes, it could be what remains of a hematoma under the skin. That lump could be there for a few months but the body absorbs most or all of it. Nothing dangerous. Sometimes some scar remains forever but shouldn't be a problem unless you can see it and it bothers you. But, if it starts growing or begins to hurt or the skin discolors, get it checked out.
I fell today and have a lot of pain in my outside upper leg, between my knee and hip, no bruising. Something I should be concerned about? 30y/o f aver
Be safe: Hopefully what you are describing is just a contusion. But with "a lot of pain" in the context of a fall, a visit to your doctor is advised. Xray may be needed.
I fell down the stairs yesterday, my upper leg, back and hip are very sore especially when I bend or put weight on it. No bruising. Should I get check?
Possibly: If you have tingling, numbness or inability to move your extremities; if you have deformity to bones or pain in bones when not moving, or if the pain does not decrease over time, or you passed out and fell, then yes, you should see a doctor for an examination. If you are able to walk, not fainting, and the pain improves over a few days, you should mention the fall at your next regular appointment.
I have this bruise on my right thigh that hurts but isn't very visible. What could cause this. I have a few bug bites in the area?
Localized reaction: Maybe it is an underlying localized reaction from the bug bites. If continues, then get it evaluated.

I have a painless bruise on my left inner thigh. I haven't worked out in a while and I have no clue what else could have caused it. Any ideas?
Relax: No big deal. These are common. It will be gone in 5-7 days.
I have a bruise on the inside of my thigh & I don't recall doing anything to cause it to bruise. It is now getting bigger and darker. Is this normal?
Probably: You might have bumped into something without realizing it and yes bruises tend to get darker after a few days before start fading away leaving first a yellowish tinge before complete resolution. If you are taking aspirin or fish oil, you may bruise easier. If this is a frequent occurrence, you need to consult your doctor to find out if you are a bleeder.
I have a bruise looking spot on the back of my thigh and it won't go away. What caused this? Its been a little over a year and it doesn't hurt or itch.

Three mosquito bites last night. All look like bruises today. One covers the entire outside of my thigh. What causes this?
Mosquito Bites: The female mosquito deposits saliva that contains anticoagulants in the skin. This leads to bruising - surprised that one covers such a large surface area.
I got a knee to the thigh which caused bruising. A couple of days later I felt some discomfort on the side of my knee. Is this cause of the bruising.
Bruising:knee pain: The knee to your thigh caused a contusion (bruise) but although this is the first damage one sees, other damage can be done to your knee ligaments, which heal very slowly and would be noticed a "couple days later". Blood from the bruise in your thigh can migrate down to your knee (gravity), and the swelling can also cause mild pain.See 1 more doctor answer
See a dermatologist: It is difficult to make a proper diagnosis since I am not there to see the condition. I recommend seeing a dermatologist so that they can make a proper diagnosis and give you something to get rid of the condition or relieve symptoms.
