Two possibilities: It is common to find a bruise on the leg and yet not remember the injury that caused it. This becomes more common with age and with the use of Aspirin and other anticoagulants. If the bruise persists, it may not be a bruise but a cluster of dilated capillaries known as telangectasias. These are caused by backflow through an incompetant deep vein and are treated by laser or sclerotherapy. ...Read more

Bruises are indications that there is bleeding underneath the skin or within the skin due to ruptured blood vessels. The dark color you are seeing is due to the color of blood and the iron that is in your red blood cells. Bruises are most commonly due to trauma but can occur spontaneously in some medical conditions. More info for you: http://wb. Md/1zrjW36 Hope this helps. ...Read more

Are lines of bruises on the left leg a sign of anything?

Are lines of bruises on the left leg a sign of anything?

Some trauma?: Bruises are from blood leaking out of capillaries (tiny blood vessels) in the skin. Having bruises means there was trauma to the area. If there was no trauma, the bruises mean either the blood vessels are abnormally fragile and break easily, there are too few platelets to help blood clot, or the blood is "thin" and not clotting fast enough. A doctor's evaluation may be needed to figure things out. ...Read more
