Prozac poop out: Yes these drugs are similar to Prozac in affecting serotonin. Serotonin may cause 'the brakes' to be applied to dopamine (Think ENERGY/ ENJOYMENT/ FOCUS). Nortriptyline also enhances your epinephrine so it's poop out is not as common or severe as with drugs like Prozac. Also the nortrtiptyline blood level needs to be checked- it may be too high or low and cause such symptoms. ...Read more

We decreased pristiq to every other day since it caused apathy.Now my Vyvanse is less effective.It dn help my fatigue, motivation, focus, ect.Relation?

What's being treated: Pristiq is essentially Effexor only not available generically. Vyvanse suggests you're being treated for either adhd or some sort of fatigue syndrome. I've never heard of Pristiq causing apathy. I'm not your doc, but it sounds like maybe the antidepressant should have been increased rather than decreased. Talk to your doctor about your depression symptoms before blaming them on pristiq. ...Read more

Consider switch: In general it is not wise to add another medication to treat a side effect, unless the original medication is doing a stellar job in every way except for the single side effect. After all, you might have a side effect with the added one, & then you need another for it & so on. There are many other SSRIs & other medications similar that may be effective without apathy instead of Prozac. Good luck! ...Read more
