Causes Of Abnormal Ekg
ECG: Sorry but this question can't be answered simply. We use ECG in folks with chest pains because there are some very typical and fairly specific changes seen in myocardial ischemia. On the other hand loads of things can cause 'abnormal' ECG and some of those loads are seen in people with chest pain without serious problems. ...Read more
Electrocardiogram (ecg, ekg) is a print-out of the electrical forces detected by electrodes on the chest wall, as electricity travels through the heart with each heart beat. The electrodes are placed in different positions, and each position "sees" the electrical activity of the heart from its own vantage point. Abnormalities in signal detected at chest surface ...Read more
While it probably: Doesnt help, not the likely cause of an abnormal ekg. See your doctor to get it checked. ...Read more
Depends : Depends of course on the type of ECG abnormality. Higher heart rates and lower BP often imply relative low volume in the bloodstream. Make sure you are hydrated. If you have a sense of racing heart (palpitations) and light headedness , you should see your doctor for another ecg, possibly an echo o check structure and function of heart. Increased adrenergic (adrenalin) tone can occur if anxious. ...Read more
Had an echo stress tst done 1 yr ago, great results, take BP meds, do not smoke, 130lbs/f.Have anxiety, could that of caused my original abnormal ekg?
No.: Usually anxiety doesn't cause an abnormal ekg. Anxiety can make your heart rate faster, but shouldn't affect the electrical conduction of the heart. The cardiologist who did your original ekg would be a great person to get a second opinion on this. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: A large subdural hematoma with a lot of pressure can lead to effects on the heart which are manifest in the ekg. This has to do with changes in sympathetic tone as a result of the head injury. These usually resolve when the patient improves and the pressure has been removed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: It depends on the nature of the abnormality, but abnormal ecgs can be caused by minor conditions. But the converse can also true; severe cardiac disease can be associated with normal ecgs. ...Read more
I have a asd&asa with abnormal ekg (right axis deviation) >100 they say this is the asd in work overload what would cause the overload? Is it bigger?
Right axis deviation: Electrocardiographic right axis deviation which is increasing over time associated with an ASD can indicate right ventricular dilation. If the ECG is a one point in time measurement, then its reliabiltiy as a predictor of right heart enlargement is less. Discuss with your doctor. Measuring shunt with echo is an easy way to evaluate the ASD. Sometimes a TEE is needed. ...Read more
What causes lower calves to swell. Had venous doppler test. Showed little reflux In one. Started when had Cdiff with abnormal ekg. Stress test okay.
Fluid in the legs: If someone has had a recent illness, swelling in the legs can be a byproduct of that-esp. if it was severe. If you had C. diff, then you probably were quite ill. I suspect your albumin must be low (a protein in the blood and correlate of good health). Leg swelling in your case is probably from tissue fluid (lymph) that's sitting there in that 3rd space. As your health recovers, it should go away. ...Read more
Could you get abnormal EKG at clinic then one hour later normal EKG at er. How reliable ekg, blood work, and xray to detect mild chest pain causes.?
Yes: Different machines, diffrent interpreters , different conditions with transient changes can all affect the outcome. Lead placement can also be an issue. If leads are backwards etc. Computers often interpret ECG for primarydrs. They are programmed to overcall tracings to avoid missing real problems. ...Read more
