My baby is 7 months. She has a white spot below her chest since she was 4 months I think she also has oral candidiasis. Plz advise?
Thrush and spot?: Ask her pediatrician to get a look at the white spot at her next visit. Do any family members have such a "spot" does she have any other areas like this? How large is it? What shape is it? How is the baby's growth? This may or may not be related to the thrush. Thrush is a thick white coating on her tongue which you cannot scrape off. No: Candidiasis is not something you catch. It is commonly related to antibiotic exposure or diabetes as an overgrowth of normal yeast already present. Probably not: Superficial infections of skin and mucosal membranes by Candida causing local inflammation and discomfort are common. The pain and discomfort would be more related to the skin area, and would be distinguishable from true muscle and joint pain of the "neck, back and shoulder" I assume that you are referring to. Not by itself: Candidiasis in the mouth usually results from an underlying immune deficiency like hiv, or other chronic illnesses like diabetes.
