Doubt. But,: You are describing an infection possibly an abscess. He needs treated. We all have bacteria on our skin with no infection developing. If bacteria is pushed under skin like in case of scratch, infection happens. Urine infection is common from sex unless strict hygiene is followed. There is a bacteria called mrsa, however, that have higher spread rate among couples. He needs to be checked for this. ...Read more

Maybe forever: Most UTIs don't lead to complications, such as spread of infection into the kidney (pyelonephritis, kidney abscess) or cause septicemia (blood poisoning). All are dangerous, sometimes fatal. They can happen any time from 1-2 days to a few years from start of UTI.
