Cause Of Liquid Pred Allergy
Prednisone is a synthetic cortisone. The body makes cortisone, a natural hormone made in adrenal glands. The body converts it to Hydrocortisone to become active. 25 mg of cortisone has about same effect as 5 mgm prednisone. The average person would produce 3-6 mg of pred daily. So why use a substitute? The synthetic has more anti-inflammatory effect; but has less effect ...Read more
I have had hives on and off for a couple of weeks now what is the cause of this? I have been taking an allergy medicine with prednisone.
Double up AH: Unfortunately , we have no explanation for most cases of hives unless there is an obvious trigger (drug, food etc). For most cases of hives lasting between 72 hrs and up to several weeks, a viral infection would be the presumed culprit. Try ah up to 4 doses per day. Prednisone should be used only if ah in high doses failed. ...Read more
I heard Prednisone can cause pseudo tumor cerebri. I'm taking 10mg for six days for sinuses/allergies. Will I develop this illness? I'm 19/f
No: You are being treated with a well recognized short term regimen. Pseudotumor may result from long term treatment, not short term treatment. ...Read more

Can a bad fungal infection cause rash that hurts/tingle/crawly feeling? I thought scabies/derm says allergy.Prednisone made worse, miconazole helping.
Not usual: Since prednisone made it worse, I suspect that your problem may be from an anxiety reaction if there is no visible rash. If there is a rash, then one needs to consider other conditions than allergy (which usually causes itching). This is not likely from a fungal infection however. Get a 2nd opinion if needed. ...Read more
Prescribed 10mg prednisone per day cause I have liquid in my eardrum that is effecting my hearing. But my hearing is just getting worse. What do I do?
After gallbladder removal, the liquid skin adhesive used in the surgery caused a contact allergy reaction, help!?
See your surgeon.: Allergic reactions to cyanoacrylate are very rare. I suggest you see your surgeon to be certain that what you perceive is an allergic reaction is not actually a reaction to the prep solution used or even a local wound infection. Cyanoacrylate can be easily removed with any petroleum-based ointment, but it is there for a reason: please check with your surgeon before self-treating. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am having difficulty swallowing pills due to my EoE. Is there a good liquid allergy medicine for adults which does not cause drowsiness?
Is taking 5mg of deltasone (prednisone) daily for allergies considered fairly safe for long term use?
No: Chronic Prednisone usage will create major risks for you even at a dose of 5 mg daily. They increase infection, poor wound healing, cataracts, osteoporosis and arteriosclerosis among other issues. I strongly urge you to consult an allergist and use more appropriate and safer therapies. ...Read more
I've been on 20mg/day of prednisone for the past 12 years for a severe latex allergy. Can I ever discontinue the use of this drug?
Probably not..: Since you have been on it at a significant dosage for so long, your adrenal glands are likely "suppressed", probably permanently by this time. So, my gues is that your chance of going off this medicine totally is rather low. Maybe you can lower the dose, but you should consult your doc. Good luck. ...Read more
Avoid prednisone: While adverse reactions (side effects) to oral steroids are common, there is a small percentage of individuals who actually have an allergy to a particular steroid. Side effects can usually be minimized by limiting the dose and duration of treatment. For a true Prednisone allergy, it would be necessary to avoid that drug and use one of the other corticosteroid drugs. ...Read more
Less so: The best treatment for food allergies defined as having symptoms after ingesting certain foods (and not just having a blood testing stating food allergy is present) is first and foremost, avoidance and secondarily by carrying epipen(jr) which is adrenaline which can be injected into the person's thigh asap after contact with the allergen. Prednisone is much less useful. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Post nasal drip all day used allegy sprasys all fo it nothing. Also causes breathing messed? And feels like liquid is ther when i breathe
May be vasomotor: You may have a chronic, non-allergic condition called vasomotor rhinitis. This is not seasonal, not allergic, and does not really respond to anti-allergy medications such as antihistamines and intranasal steroid sprays. An anti-cholinergic nasal spray, such as ipratropium, may be beneficial. See your family doctor or ENT specialist. Best to you! ...Read more
I find prednisone really helps me with my asthma and allergies when there aren't totally under control. Is there a less evasive drug I can take instead? Or safer dosage(than 50mg)?
Yes: Oral steroids do work very well but they are not the type of drug you want to continue for long periods. There are many side effects with long-term usage. I assume you are taking an inhaled steroid as a controller. You may need your dose adjusted. Asthma is often environmentally triggered. Check your home , etc for hidden triggers. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
