Infection: Check for urinary infection and bacterial vaginosis-completely treatable.
Male, 47. Painful urination for a few days, cloudy urine, unusual sour/fishy smell to urine. What could cause this? Urination not more frequent.
Besides UTI what could cause often urination, fishy smell urine and pain before and after urination and sharp pain in the lower abdomen?
Infectios: Infections like chlamydia and other sexually transmitted diseases can do this. Get checked out.
Dehydrated or UTI: Foods (asparagus) can do it. If you get dehydrated, your body concentrates your urine to preserve water. This can make it smell strong. Drinking more water will reverse it. A urinary tract infection (UTI) can also change the odor. You may also have burning or pain, frequent urges, fever, or back pain with a uti. If drinking more doesn't help and you have any of these symptoms, get urine checked.
Irritation, fullness: Urinary urgency occurs whenever there is irritation of the bladder or the urethra (that drains the bladder), or if the bladder is spastic, either because of muscular spasm, full bladder that may not empty completely, or nervous damage. The most common cause in a woman your age is urinary tract infection, while in older women they may simply have bladder spasms. See your doctor for a urine test
Several things:: The color of urine will depend on hydration status, ingested foods, vitamins, medications, & certain health conditions. Food: beets, blackberries, artificial food coloring. Vitamins: b complex, multivitamins. Medications: Pyridium (phenazopyridine), certain laxatives. Medical conditions: hemolytic anemia, rhabdomyolysis, light blood in the urine due to injury, infection, or tumor.
In a female: It is usually related to issues with the urethra, the tube going from the bladder to the outside. There is post void dribbling and leakage with cough and sneeze called stress urinary incontince. It could also be related to a UTI if a new problem? The worst scenario, and not typical, is a neurogenic bladder where the bladder doesn't adequatly empty, then dribbling from "overflow" if prob. Go in.
Cloudy urine: Changes in the urine can be a sign of a serious illness or something less concerning. A medical evaluation is highly recommended. Some things that can make the urine look cloudy in a male are foods, medications, infection, retrograde ejaculation, bladder problems among others. A urine analysis is required to further determine if this is serious or not.
