Cause Of Asthma Exacerbation In Children
What is the chance that blue skin is caused by asthma exacerbation in children? What are the usual symptoms?
Unlikely: If an asthma attack is very severe it can lead to respiratory failure where, the oxygen level can decrease and lead to cyanosis (bluish color of the lip and around the mouth). This is a very late sign in an asthma attack and an emergency. The usual signs of asthma in children is relentless cough, wheezing, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing. ...Read more
Many triggers: Asthma starts with inflammation of the airways. That inflammation can be triggered by many exposures, such as allergies, infections, and weather changes. Irritants like cigarette smoke and dust can also start an asthma attack. Exercise for many people can also cause symptoms. In the last few years, acid reflux has been recognized as a cause for asthma. Avoiding & controlling these prevents attacks. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Please answer! what may be the cause of my boyfriend having a hard time breathing to the point of an asthma attack?
Certainly possible: Some people's asthma is triggered by allergens in the air. While you may not be allergic to the hamster itself, you may be allergic to the material in its bedding. Monitor your symptoms and see when they are worse. If it's only when cleaning the cage, you may be able to where a simple mask or try changing the bedding material. If it's bad all the time though, may want to find him a new home. ...Read more
Blue inhaler stopped an 'asthma' attack but my pharmacist says bronchiospasms can be caused by stress without having asthma. Is this true?
Maybe: Extreme stress and anxiety can make u wheeze. However, have urself checked out by a physician to make sure what could be the problem. Allergies are a trigger of asthma and I notice u have been using Flonase. Asthma can start at any age and the key to diagnosis is RECURRENCE. By going to a lung specialist you can have lung studies which can make things clearer. ...Read more
Usually none: In otherwise young healthy individuals (no heart disease) the increased heart rate that can occur during an asthma attack or be related to treating an asthma attack (albuterol inhaler), will resolve on its own and not lead to heart problems. If the heartbeat, is irregular (skipping beats), associated with palpitations or greater than 180 beats per minutes, a heart doctor should be involved. ...Read more

Can certain foods cause a full-blown asthma attack; not, however an Ige-mediated reaction. Mostly just shortness of breath that is asthma-like?
Unlikely: This would be unlikely unless there is some type of aspiration event. When there is aspiration of liquid food we have a reflex to shut off the upper airway. This usually results in difficulty breathing in, coughing, talking and respiratory distress. It would not last as long as a typical asthma attach. Acid reflux can give a sensation of shortness of breath ...Read more
My child has one asthma attack caused by allergy and she will be received a vaccine for it . Can this vaccine kill asthma for ever ?
Confusing question: There exists no vaccine for an allergy that I know of, although allergy shots sometimes help with the allergy.Although chest tightening and wheezing during a severe allergy event, the injection is adrenalin, not a vaccine. Families carry the drug with them for future attacks in this situation. Not all that wheezes is asthma, especially in kids. I would try to clarify what went on.This is confusing ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My husband is having a moderate asthma attack. It was caused by a toilet deodorizer. Can i give him benadryl (diphenhydramine)? He also had a fever and nose is stuffed.
Moderate?: Difficult decision. Mild would be easy - so would severe. It should be okay to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) unless he has a hx of bad reaction to it. But, if there is any doubt - see a doctor. A bad asthma attack can be hard to treat and is good to avoid. It sounds like he doesn't have meds on hand. For the future, an inhaler might be good to have on hand. Hope it goes well. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
