I'm 27yo Caucasian F had BMP today. And egfris 73. Creatinine is 0.92. What is this indicating?

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, eGFR of 73 is borderline low. Above 90 is normal. However, one reading of 73 is not something to be concerned about. Like both Mom & Dad: The wonderful thing about babies as that each baby tends to look like both parents, often in different ways. Grandmothers can often provide baby pictures of either parent that look incredibly like the new grandchild. Many babies look very much like their dad when first born, but take on more and more characteristics of the mom as the baby ages. Babies tend to have lighter skin as newborns. ...Read more

Mixed race : Your child would be mixed race just like thousands and thousands of other children. You cannot predict the exact color. My husband and I just received news that we both have beta Thalassemia. He is Caucasian and I'm Indian. What are the chances of our child getting this?

My husband and I just received news that we both have beta Thalassemia. He is Caucasian and I'm Indian. What are the chances of our child getting this?

Depends: Thalassemia is autosomal recessive. That means that you only get the disease if you have the gene on both of your chromosome pairs. If you and your husband both have the actual disease, there is a 100% chance your children will have it. If you both have trait (one normal and one disease gene), there is a 25% chance they will have it, and a 50% chance they will be a carrier. I have attached a pic. ...Read more

Are caucasian people more at-risk for alzheimer's?

Are caucasian people more at-risk for alzheimer's?

Biggest risk is age: The biggest risk for developing alzheimer's disease is age. So countries where people live longer tend to have more alzheimer's disease. However, there may be other factors because the rate is higher in african-americans than in some africans (in africa) of equivalent age.
