What do you suggest if my son is 6y3m old. he is taking ADHD drug : ritalin10mg (1+0+0), rirperidone 1mg , catapres (clonidine) 0.1mg ( 1/4+1?
What are concerns?: What are your concerns about his medication regimen? He is on a stimulant medication (Ritalin) in a fairly low dose. The clonidine (catapres) is a non-stimulant to help with the ADHD symptoms and often used as an adjunct if sleep problems. The risperidone is the only one that troubles me if he has straight ADHD and no co-morbid conditions like ODD or conduct, as behavioral therapy is first. ...Read more

To a degree: All medications are not without risk but this one is often used to lower blood pressures that can be difficult to maintain at appropriate levels or those that need to be lowered from dangerous highs. It can cause rebound hypertension, however, meaning that if you are not taking it consistently it can cause your pressure to go even higher. It is not a common first-line treatment for this reason. ...Read more
Numerous: Clonidine stimulates ?2 receptors, which causes the heart to beat less forcefully and blood vessels to dilate (increase in diameter), which lowers blood pressure, hence its classification as an anti-hypertensive (though it has many other clinical uses). Side effects include hypotension (too low blood pressure), dry mouth, fatigue, weakness, nausea, constipation and many more. ...Read more
Clonidine: Well to start with death. The dose noted is 1500 times the starting dose. If the dose was meant to be 150 mcg then it still is not right as the med is not made in that size. It comes in 0.1-0.3 mg tablets. This is a blood pressure medication that needs close monitoring because misuse can lead to severe side effects in the patient. ...Read more
Catapres (clonidine) & CRPS: If your blood pressure is normal, you won't be able to handle even 0.1mg of catapres (clonidine). Will make you feel lethargic since it lowers blood pressure. This is the negative which I have thus far seen in my CRPS population. However, for the ones in whom it works, it is a great SEVEN DAYS time released neuropathic pain patch. I's much more ideal to change patch q 7 days than take pills every day! ...Read more

See doc. : Those bp's are quite high and a concern. Catapress is a BP med that can cause rebound elevations in BP if a dose is missed-it sounds like you need a reevaluation of your BP program. Garlic has no proven roe in p management. ...Read more
If you take Xanax 0.23 mg, catapres 0.3 mg and Enablex (darifenacin) 15 mg all at once, what are the side effects?
See below: The only interaction between these medications is that both Catapres and xanax (alprazolam) are CNS depressants and may slow reaction time and make you sleepy. Otherwise side efffects are same as any one of medications seperately. Fyi, i would recommend an alternative to xanax (alprazolam) as it is highly addictive and you develop tolerance to its effects very quickly. ...Read more
