Hi, I took Cataflam (dioclofenac) 10 hours ago. Can I drink alcohol? I've read that it should be out of my system by now. Thank you!
Probably OK, but...: Diclofenac's half life (time for 1/2 to leave your system) is 1.5 hours. Thus at 10 hours out, only about 1/12th of the dose would still be in your system. Thus, you're probably safe in terms of the mixing of alcohol and an NSAID. That being said, the cumulative effect of NSAIDs and Alcohol on your GI tract is another issue altogether. Watch for symptoms of gastritis, burning aching pain... ...Read more

Eccentric loading: Of a muscle, or that period when you're starting to slow and there is so much stress on a muscle, is a likely time to suffer a pull or a tear. I would expect this to get better in a 1-2 weeks, but if it is not is more likely a tear or ligamentous injury in the foot and will need imaging and exam to be sure. While NSAIDs are good for short periods, they have been shown to possible delay healing too. ...Read more

Takes quality time.: Many patients seem to think that the correct way to treat gout is to manage the symptoms at the time of the acute attack.
