It is "bad" in a prognostic sense if the symptoms include weakness of the muscles to the fingers and thumb of the affected hand. May not be ulnar: The ulnar nerve can cause pain through out its distribution in your arm, but your pain does not fit only ulnar pain. Carpal tunnel syndrome is related to your median nerve. To have both median nerve and ulnar nerve issues, you most likely have an issue upstream of those nerves not specifically with the median or ulnar, either brachial plexus issue or cervical radiculopathy.
