Carpal Tunnel Symtoms 1 Month Later
Yes: Unfortunately carpal tunnel syndrome (cts) may recur in a small population of patients. This is best assessed by your md using a physical exam and a emg/ncv (needle study of your nerve/muscles) exam. The good news is that most patients do well with open carpal tunnel release surgery in the case of recurrence. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Numbness CTR: Depending on the severity, carpal tunnel syndrome after skilled surgery can take up to 6 months to improve. If the night pain has improved, but the numbing and tingling has not fully resolved, you can still be part of the >90% that get better with time. You are 2/3 the way there! the blood supply improves immediately, and with it the pain. The insulation (myelin) takes time, so it can take months. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Common: Since the flexor tendons to the fingers co-habitate with the median nerve in the carpal tunnel, it is not rare for patients with carpal tunnel to eventually get trigger finger. Swelling post carpal tunnel release can lead to changes in the flexor tendon sheath that eventually leads to triggering. Early nsaids or steroid injection may prevent the need for surgery, but surgery is a common option. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I had trigger thumb and carpal tunnel surgery on March 17, 2015. I still have numbness, tingling, tightness, sensitivity,is this normal ?
Yes: It takes time for the inflamed tissue to heal both from where the surgery was done and from around the nerve that was injured. Then it will take time for the nerve itself to heal. I just had this discussion with my hand surgeon. The nerve heals approximately 1-2 mm a day not counting the first month after surgery. Give it time. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Dad had bad pain, at and below elbow (wrist, fingers). Neuro diagnosed with ulnar nerve entrapment. No improvement after 1 week. What to do for pain?
Ulnar Nerve: The ulnar nerve is succeptable to trauma at the elbow as it passes around a groove on the medial side called the cubital tunnel. Avoiding excessive elbow flexion and cushioned elbow protector can help. Anti-inflammatory meds or pain meds like Neurontin (gabapentin) may also help. Evaluation by a nerve specialist like a neurosurgeon is warranted if there is progressive numbness in the fingers or hand weakness. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

I'm 19 weeks pregnant wit a sore clicky wrist.. More near the thumb area.. Could this be carpel tunnel syndrome??
Absolutely Not: You are correct, however, and I am duly impressed that CTS is more prevalent during pregnancy.....but the clicky wrist thing is only going to be good for you to perhaps scare people at a cocktail party....no diagnostic value. Be safe Lassie. BTW, that picture I think is supposed to represent either a very sore wrist or the bionic hand of Captain America. Just looked cool that's all. Not yours ...Read more
