What we should if you have carpal tunnel syndrome?? Does we use medicines if yes then which medicine Or therapy if yes then which one.??

Carpal tunnel: This is a fairly specific group of symptoms characterized by wrist pain, worse at night, numb thumb, index finger, long finger. It is usually a result of repetitive use of your fingers, hands and wrist. But can be produced by a one time wrist injury. You need to be evaluated as their are other causes which need to be considered. ...Read more

Weakness in one hand? How can you tell if carpal tunnel or not?

Numbness at night: The most common initial symptom of carpal tunnel is numbness and tingling in the thumb and first two fingers that is worse at night, often awakening you from sleep. Especially if your symptoms have progressed to the point where the hand is weak, a neurologist can help determine if the cause is carpal tunnel or some other nerve disorder. ...Read more

Wrist pain on one side when flexing it forward and picking things up. A few fingers are tingly too at times. Is this carpal tunnel?

Nerve conductn tests: A nerve conduction test is an excellent objective way to define the presence of carpal tunnel as findings can be subtle. I agree w/Dr. Ott that a good exam will help alleviate your initial concerns as you are young to have carpal tunnel. Typically @ this point we see tendonitis that's irritating the nerve (or causing neuritis) Try Occupational/Hand therapy, splint at nite, better ergonomics, stretching. ...Read more

EMG: In these cases, a follow up EMG will objectify whether re-innervation and healing is occurring allowing decisions for further treatments. A plain X-Ray will NOT assist in visualization of carpal tunnel pathology but an MRI might. Discuss with your hand specialist ...Read more

Carpal tunnel endio one year ago Doc said scar tissue on nerve left hand and it will go away, told me this in Oct my Primary doc took xray said fine hand goes numb, feels weird can this be fixed?

Depends: It depends on why your hand goes numb. Sounds like you need an emg/NCS to assess your median nerve (the nerve that travels through and is compressed in carpal tunnel). Ideally this would be compared to a study performed preoperatively. That can assess for recurrent slowing, possibly from scar tissue. Ultrasound is another diagnostic option ...Read more

Please help me! Is it possible to have carpal tunnel syndrome from carrying a baby for months now?

Carpal tunnel: The median nerve that runs through the carpal tunnel suffers when subjected to abnormal pressures. One source of pressure can be swelling of tissues, including tendon linings in the carpal tunnel, during pregnancy. Good news: after delivery, symptoms typically resolve. The third trimester is the worst, and ordinarily a safer time to inject the wrist if needed to provide short term relief. ...Read more

A few months ago I was given an injection to treat carpal tunnel syndrome. Since then I've had discoloration and change in skin texture, is it normal?

It's not uncommon: Carpal tunnel injections usually contain some steroid solution. Steroids can depigment and/or thin the skin. The subcutaneous fatty tissue can also become atrophied with steroid use. All of these affects are typically temporary, but may take up to a year to resolve. ...Read more

How do I know if its athritis or carpal tunnel. This numbness is going on for a month now. Help!?

Arthritis/Carpal: Carpal tunnel is typically manifested by numbness and/or tingling in the thumb, index, long, and half of the ring finger. Although aching may be reported, numbness and pins/needles are more common. It can be reproduced by holding your wrist in the bent forward position for well over a minute or may be considered if you can elicit tingling with forcible tapping over the underside of the wrist. ...Read more

Why are fingers tingly four months after endoscopic carpal tunnel release?

Numbness CTR: Depending on the severity, carpal tunnel syndrome after skilled surgery can take up to 6 months to improve. If the night pain has improved, but the numbing and tingling has not fully resolved, you can still be part of the >90% that get better with time. You are 2/3 the way there! The blood supply improves immediately, and with it the pain. The insulation (myelin) takes time, so it can take months. ...Read more

How are endocrine disorders linked to carpal tunnel, and can they affect more like the ulnar nerve? I hd surgery last month for ctr and guyon's canal.

How are endocrine disorders linked to carpal tunnel, and can they affect more like the ulnar nerve? I hd surgery last month for ctr and guyon's canal.

Causation: Carpal tunnel syndrome, in part, represents a synovitis and inflammation narrows the canal. Hypothyroidism and acromegaly (a pituitary growth hormone disorder) are endocrine disorders which cause cts. Diabetes is another (insulin issues--adrenal problems). Pregnancy, not fully endocrine, another cause. Not unique to have other nerves involved, such as ulnar. ...Read more

I have wrist pain in my right wrist that comes and goes i'd say every few months, my mom thinks it's carpal tunnel but hasn't taken me to a doctor...

Causes vary: On and off pain can be tendinitis which hurts more with movement and grasping. Osteoarthritis is not a consideration at age 20. Rheumatoid arthritis is usually on both sides of the body) associated with swelling, and more constant. Carpal tunnel syndrome is usually felt as numbness, tingling, and/or pain in the hand. A doctor's history and physical exam and limited testing should sort this out. ...Read more

I had carpal tunnel surgery two months ago. My thumb, pointer and middle finger are numb. They were not before the surgery. Normal?

May want to discuss: With your surgeon. The numbness should nothave gotten worse at two months and you may be having some scarring/adhesion issues or increased edema causing further compression on median nerve. While some of this can be expected post surgically, it should be getting better. With cts surgery, though, it's not uncommon to have a long healing process, even up to six months, that's if the surgery worked. ...Read more

Can ulnar nerve pain cause bicep and tricep pain? Also have pain on both sides of elbow/wrist. Carpal tunnel was released on same arm 4 months ago.

Can ulnar nerve pain cause bicep and tricep pain? Also have pain on both sides of elbow/wrist. Carpal tunnel was released on same arm 4 months ago.

May not be ulnar: The ulnar nerve can cause pain through out its distribution in your arm, but your pain does not fit only ulnar pain. Carpal tunnel syndrome is related to your median nerve. To have both median nerve and ulnar nerve issues, you most likely have an issue upstream of those nerves not specifically with the median or ulnar, either brachial plexus issue or cervical radiculopathy. Emg should be done. ...Read more
