Improves weight loss: Study done - one group was given 2000 mg of carnitine, and the other a placebo. In the placebo group, the average weight loss after 12 weeks was one pound. In the carnitine group, weight loss averaged 11 pounds. That’s an eleven-fold increase in weight loss, simply by increasing carnitine levels. ...Read more

I am currently taking abilify (aripiprazole). 1 mg evey other day. I want to start taking a supplement called acetyl-l-carnitine to help with focus and mind energy. ?

I am currently taking abilify (aripiprazole). 1 mg evey other day. I want to start taking a supplement called acetyl-l-carnitine to help with focus and mind energy. ?

Might also try...: Acetyl-l-carnitine is a very safe naturally-occurring substance that your own body produces & has no known interactions with abilify (aripiprazole). It may even help reduce toxicity from abilify (aripiprazole). There is evidence that vitamin c, vitamin e, manganese and b vitamins may protect against tardive dyskenesia, a rare but serious side effect. I also advise very low doses of lithium for those on abilify (aripiprazole), see comments:. ...Read more

What are the good benefits of l-carnitine redox fat in my body? Is it safe? What is the best time to take? What are the side effects? And bad effects?

Not really known: That sounds like an advertised product with claims of helping muscles, athletics, or overall health. One should ask her doctor if the product is a real medication, approved by the fda for treating anything. If the product is not a real medicine that has undergone years of testing and research then one cannot tell for sure if it works or not, and one also cannot know what its side effects might be. ...Read more

Hyperthyroid which was managed with Carbimazole & stable for 3yrs. Levels creeping up again (just in normal). Is there any benefit to carnitine supps?

Hyperthyroid: Carnitine will not help. The dose of carmimazole/methimazole needed will often change over time, and the course of the hyperthyroidism can change. You may need a dose adjustment of the medicaiton. This is why many Endocrinologists recommend definitive treatment with radioactive iodine or surgery. ...Read more
