Can you tell me how the RNA virus could cause bleeding?

Can you tell me how the RNA virus could cause bleeding?

Need further info: There are many, many viruses that are made out of RNA. In fact there are more RNA viruses than DNA viruses. So the question is 'what virus are you talking about'? There are a number of viral hemorrhagic fevers - perhaps you're referring to one of those? Such as Ebola? I recommend you start here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viral_hemorrhagic_fever ...Read more

Why are retroviruses the only group of RNA viruses that can cause cancer?

Why are retroviruses the only group of RNA viruses that can cause cancer?

They don't penetrate: DNA viruses don't have the capability of entering the cell membrane. As such when one sees DaNA on tumor membrane it is from mutated mitochondrial DNA. The RNA viruses penetrate the cell and elaborate reverese transcriptase to allow transfection of the nuclear DNA. This enzyme only occurs with the retroviruses. ...Read more

How do the RNA molecules of HIV and West Nile virus (WNV) differ in number and function?

How do the RNA molecules of HIV and West Nile virus (WNV) differ in number and function?

Which ones?: There are dozens of variants of HIV and West Nile virus. I believe the genomes for all of them have been sequenced and the sequences published. There are many open-source sequence-alignment software packages available for download. Many run better under Linux than Windows. Do you have a preference? ...Read more

I took a HCV RNA test. My doctor said that the virus is not replicating. Does this mean i'm cured or it's hibernating?

I took a HCV RNA test. My doctor said that the virus is not replicating. Does this mean i'm cured or it's hibernating?

Cured: If you have a positive antibody but a negative hcv RNA while on no anti-hcv therapy, then your body either cleared the infection on its own, or you were medically cured. Either way, it's good news, . ...Read more

HIV RNA test negative 12 days after finishing 28-day PEP regimen. Is it possible the test missed the virus because of the PEP, even after 12 days?

HIV RNA test negative 12 days after finishing 28-day PEP regimen. Is it possible the test missed the virus because of the PEP, even after 12 days?

Need to wait 3 mo.: Probably your result is valid. However, in theory PEP might prolong the period from exposure to a positive test, if PEP doesn't work. But there are no data. Most HIV experts recommend waiting until 3 months after PEP for a conclusive test. This is one reason PEP should only be done for very good reason, i.e. truly high risk exposures. It prolongs the anxiety period until conclusive testing. ...Read more

Hi, what are the antiviral drug for dengue virus spesifically the rna-dependant RNA polymerase as the potential target? Thanks

Hi, what are the antiviral drug for dengue virus spesifically the rna-dependant RNA polymerase as the potential target? Thanks

None yet: Dengue fever and its severe form, dengue hemorrhagic fever, have no cure nor vaccine. One path of research is to find a way to use nucleoside analogs to block the viral rna-dependent RNA polymerase (coded by ns5), which copies the viral genetic material. So far, no drug has been approved yet. Not sure if anyone has found and submitted such a drug to the fda (food and drug administration). ...Read more

Normal cytology, positive for hr hpv rna. Does the rna just mean the virus is active? Need additional testing to ensure pap didn't miss something?

Normal cytology, positive for hr hpv rna. Does the rna just mean the virus is active? Need additional testing to ensure pap didn't miss something?

Yes/no: Yes you have it in your system & no you don't need additional testing right now. These strains belong to a family of virus well known for hibernating for long periods in the tissues. You may shed virus off & on without any symptoms. If it ever starts a problem it might be decades from now, if you are one of the unlucky ones.Just do your regular testing as advised ...Read more

My tes apositive antibody but a negative HCV RNA virus c genotype 4 aftter one year same result is it mean i am clear?

My tes apositive antibody but a negative HCV RNA virus c genotype 4 aftter one year same result is it mean i am clear?

Most likely clear: The positive HCV antibody indicates that you were exposed to the virus at some point in the past and your immune system reacted with producing antibodies. The negative RNA implies that there is no viable virus that can be detected by this test in your blood (your immune system at the time of exposure succeeded in eliminating the virus) ...Read more

I have a positive antibody but a negative HCV RNA virus c genotype 4 after one year same result i didn't take any medication before or now ?

No active infection: A proportion of people, 10-20%, do clear the virus and do not get chronic infection. The antibody means you did get infected. Not finding any viral nucleic acid means that you do not have active infection. If have not done so, take Hep A and Hep B vaccination. ...Read more

Hep B Virus (HBV) DNA Qualitative (Detection) - COBAS TaqMan , Hep C RNA Detection by Taqman detection will be conclusive on 47 days? Any retest need?

No: Both Hepatitis B and C viruses may be detected 30 to 60 days after infection by antigen detection or 60-120 days with antibody testing. Direct HBV DNA and HCV RNA testing can potentially detect infection earlier, within 2-4 weeks after infection, so being tested at 47 days post-exposure with a negative nucleic acid test for both is very likely to be a true negative ...Read more

What type of HIV test does a doctor preform on a person that got raped RNA HIV test for the virus itself or normal antibody HIV test ?

Likely antibody : The usual first test for HIV exposure is for antibodies to hiv. An in-office test is likely to be for antibodies. Very variable: In most cases, no actual symptoms, and in those who do get sick, very similar to a flu-like problem with generalized aching, low grade temp. Far less common, especially in immunologically suppressed folks, can cause brain and spinal cord inflammation which could be deadly, or leave a patient with arm or leg weakness (like a poliomyelitis). ...Read more
