Carnation Instant Breakfast Medication
My 1yo needs to start on Pediasure or Carnation Instant breakfast for calories (FTT), is there a "healthier" option or do I not worry about "organic"?
Depends: The Carnation product added to milk or almond milk can provide similar nutrients for a fraction of the cost of Pediasure. If your doc has explored the issues with your kids FTT and suggests a supplement, it is worth a try. Either has defined caloric and nutrient content that can support growth and make up for deficiencies in prior food seeking behavior. Continued followup is important. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Question on my Diabetic medication... I take Galvas 50mg and Diaglucide. I would like to know the best way to take the medicine? I changed to taking the Galvas in the morning before eating, and Diaglucide after breakfast/dinner. Suggestions?
Are you allowed to take medication or not while testing blood glucose after taking medicine at breakfast?
Please clarify: Hi. I'm confused. For standard diabetes tests (either fasting glucose or a glucose tolerance test) you go in for the test FASTING (i.e., NO BREAKFAST!). I'm not as worried about the meds messing up the test as I am by the fact you ate breakfast! The test is probably invalid. Be sure to tell your doctor who ordered the test. May have to repeat it. Good luck. PS Water is OK before & during test. ...Read more
I take 40 mg. of Tecta 40 min. before breakfast. Will it reduce effectiveness of supplements or other medications taken with breakfasat?
Should i take these medications ( imdur , Cartia , metoprolol) in the morning with breakfast or at night for most benifit?
Depends...: not sure why you are on Cartia and metoprolol -- 2 medicines that both lower heart rate while controlling BP. Having said that, I would take Cartia and metoprolol at opposite times of day (one at night and the other in a.m.) Imdur at night. These are serious medicines for a young persons like yourself of 36. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Question on my diabetes medication. I cannot take Glucophage, it hurts my upper abdomen too much. So my Doctor did put me on Galvus with my Diaglucide, which I take before breakfast. But I am afraid if Galvus does cause weight gain or not?
Depends: Steel cut oats are very healthy for breakfast as our other whole grains like the ancient grains, spelt, millet, and amaranth. Instant oats depends on what is added in package such as sugar, which is not healthy. Avoid the instant oats if sugar, preservatives, or other chemicals added. Consider arrowhead mills organic cereals instead. ...Read more
I'm curious as to whether pediasure and carnations breakfast essentials is healthy for my 2 year old? He eats but in 6 months he has gained no weight
Not gaining weight: Pediasure is better for a 2 years old as it is a meal in itself as it contains the right balance of carbs, proteins and fats for a growing child. If he is a picky eater the try to give him a glass of Pediasure with meals 3 times a day. If his eating is not a problem then his doctor will do more of a work up if he continues not to gain weight. I hope this helps. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I eat twice a day, ensure for breakfast and light heavy lunch, how come i haven't lost any weight?
Losing weight: To lose weight, get ur resting metabolism rate done(weight loss centers do this). This determines the total number of calories you need to lose 1-2lbs/week. Decreasing 500cal/day will give you a 1lb wt loss in 1wk; drink water (1/2 your body weight), eat small meals about 150-200cal 2-4x/(depending on your metabolism rate) and 500cal/meal at night: lean protein/veggies; avoid carbs, . ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I want to lose 10kgs and don't care how unhealthy it is. If i only eat breakfast how long will it take to lose 10kgs?
Wrong strategy.: Your strategy is not wise. Doing things out of convenience without regard for your health is wrong. You need to lose weight by eating smaller more frequent meals throughout the day with included fiber and complex carbohydrates and lean protein sources. That being said, you should lose 10kg over at least 11 weeks to make it stick. ...Read more

I don't east breakfast or lunch because i don't have time, and when i get home to eat dinner i eat half a serving and become full but extremely guilty?
Eating disorder?: It sounds like eating is a big issue for you, and that you're controlling how much you eat/don't eat. The "extremely guilty" when you do eat is worrisome to me, because food is there to nourish us rather than torment us. Please see a psychiatrist or therapist skilled in eating disorders, so you can get help before this goes further. ...Read more
I don't like much of eggs in breakfast. What should I substitute for them? And should I add Ovaltine/Milo in my milk?
Change: Eggs are not necessary. The type of protein that you get in is important only in that you get it in. You can get protein from eggs, cheese, peanut butter, or some other protein containing food. You might want to try carnation instant breakfast in place of ovaltine. Comes in flavors. ...Read more
