Can Soma 350 other wise known as carisoprodol 350 cause jaw pain? I noticed that when i take it especially at bed time the next day it hurts

NO: Soma (carisoprodol) is a muscle relaxant. I often prescribe it to my patients who are having TMJ pain and headaches. I have not seen an instance where it is actually causing more pain. You are likely clenching a lot while you sleep. Visit a TMJ dentist who can make you the right rype of guard to cut down the jaw pain. Warning- most guards made do not effectively help, so the correct one is very important. ...Read more

Taking tramadol/soma (carisoprodol) combo helps my pain/burning from radiculopathy more than anything. Only take 1 Soma (carisoprodol) at bedtime. Why won't neuro prescribe soma (carisoprodol)?

Soma+Tram=Bad Idea: Seizures are one of the most important & dangerous side effects of Tramadol & Soma (carisoprodol). Take both together & cross your fingers. Soma (carisoprodol) not intended or approved for long term use and habit forming (as is Tramadol). I understand your plight of pain but both these drugs together? You're dancing with the devil and he ain't even that good lookin' to make it worth your while. I agree with the neurologist. ...Read more

Carisoprodol : Carisoprodol (which also goes by the brand name soma) is a drug that is used to relax muscles. It is a schedule IV controlled substance because it has the potential to be habit-forming. After taking carisoprodol, the drug stays in your system for about 24 to 48 hours....But, this is only because it is converted by your liver into another active drug, called meprobamate. Meprobamate is another schedule IV drug that is rarely used because 1) not much drug is needed to overdose; 2) it is psychologically habit-forming; 3) stopping it can cause severe, life-threatening physical withdrawal, and 4) it can make the sedating effects of other medications, like opioid pain killers, much stronger, potentially leading to death. The physician-patient relationship is based on trust on both sides. Deception, such as by hiding the use of certain medications, can seriously harm that relationship and the patient's health. ...Read more
