I have my first appointment with a cardiologist bc of a fast heart rate, would he proscribe anxiety meds if that's what causing my fast heart rate?
My cardiologist looked at my chart and saw that I have an anxiety disorder. They prescribed me anti-anxiety med?
Assume: That cardiologist evaluated for cardiac issues. If anxiety is believed to contribute to or to cause your symptoms -then this sounds like an appropriate medication choice. Take care.
What do you suggest if my cardiologist looked at my chart and saw that I have an anxiety disorder and prescribed me anti anxiety med?
Ask them why?: Did they prescribe the medication because of symptoms you reported? Were they concerned that some of your symptoms were related to anxiety? No harm in asking them what their reasoning for doing so would be.
Been on plavix (clopidogrel) for 6 month, drug eluting stent. Is it safe to switch to effient? My cardiologist wasn't sure. Will it be better for anxiety problem?
Clonazepam: A cardiologist is a fully licensed physician, also trained in internal medicine. There are multiple conditions for which this medication can be prescribed. One would need to ask either the patient or the physician presuming one had a reason or permission to know.
I've been told by my cardiologist that I've been on Protonix too long (5 years), but my Gastro Dr. Has continued to prescribe it. I'm confused. What d?
When docs differ: The situation you describe is common -- different specialists seem to be giving different advice. Make sure your doctors each know you're seeing the other so they can communicate, and ask them both your question. These little text boxes are not big enough to resolve the question here; consider an Inbox consult here on HealthTap where you can share details of your history and get another opinion.
Hi, will a cardiologist prescribe xanax or Ativan for SVT? I've been very anxious since my heart went into svt, I'm not sure what's causing this?
Not necessarily.: SVT is very common (it is the most common arrhythmia), & could have many different causes. If you didn't have an anxiety disorder before the diagnosis, chances are that anxiety isn't causing this problem. Thyroid issues, heart issues, infections, malignancies can cause this problem. Ativan/Xanax are NOT treatments for SVT - they can make the problem worse. Propranolol may help. Use HealthTap Prime
What could cause rapid BP spikes (30-40/10-20) that isn't stress, anxiety or diet related. Been to 5 doctors including a cardiologist and no answer?
Metoprolol: Does in some. BB often used in performance anxiety and helps some. Did it help you?

Heart stops for 1 second, big thud and then head rush. Is it related to anxiety? Seen cardiologist 5 months ago and heart was normal
Could be: Requires a new look at your cardiac status to determine cause of abnormal beats.
My cardiologist thinks my atrial flutter is due to a severe anxiety disorder. If the anxiety gets controlled can the atrial flutter go away?
No: Atrial flutter is due to an abnormal electrical pathway. It may be triggered by anxiety if the anxiety make you have extra early beats (palpitations) which may trigger the rhythm problem. Otherwise, atrial flutter may resolve on its own (but may return), may be controlled by medications, or may need a procedure called an ablation to cure.
I got up, and my heart started pounding hard, and I got scared. Then it stopped, and it's not pounding anymore. Cardiologist says normal. Anxiety?
Anxiety: It sounds very much like an anxiety attack. If the cardiologist felt it was anxiety attack, likely correct.
Norm stress test & echo eval by cardiologist. I was having anxiety attacks for weeks. Stopped now. Is that early sign of incoming MI? Age28M. No Fam hist.
Take meds for panic/anxiety, my heart has this pressure and hurts, fast beating all the time. Seen a cardiologist said heart is ok. What can I do next?
Stress: If a cardiologist has found no evidence of cardiovascular problems and your symptoms are related to anxiety and stress, avoid alcohol and caffeine and consult your personal physician for stress management therapy and, if needed, mild antianxiety medication adjustment.See 1 more doctor answer
I'm wearing a 24hr. Holter monitor. Cardiologist says my palpitations are anxiety related. If they don't show up on it this time should I ask 4stress test?
Cardiologist told me I have a mild mitral valve leak and said its nothing to worry about. Should I be worried? Anxiety @ all time high!
Mitral leak: Mild mitral insufficiency on echo is very common and most often of little signficance. If your cardiologist told you to not worry about it, then don't. It is no big deal at all and most usually doesn't ever cause a problem. Cardio would have told you if it was signficant.See 1 more doctor answer
My heart PVCs have started to get worse as I'm walking. But the cardiologist still can't find anything wrong with my heart. Still anxiety?
On and on, until: Chronic Anxiety has a lot of staying power. It hangs on, even discovers new ways to bother you until you learn ways to avoid, reduce and manage it. Acute anxiety is functional - it's our species response to immediate threat. Chronic may be meaningless - it's just there. CBT therapy is very effective if you find a therapist you trust and work at learning. It's a good value for better living! Best!
