FNH of liver? Need m: You may not have enough space to relay your questions about FNH. I presume it is FNH of the liver, which is generally a benign condition with normal blood tests and a harmless prognosis. However, FNH has to be distinguished from hepatic adenoma (hepatoma) which may be what the repeat testing is for; however, a contrast-enhanced MRI is the best test (not CT). Use HealthTap Prime or TTYD for clarity ...Read more
I've had lightheadedness and a buzzing feeling in body for about two years but doctors tell me I'm fine need help scares me?
Lightheaded: Without knowing what kind of evaluations you have gone through, I would recommend seeing your primary care doctor to make sure all of the necessary tests have been accomplished. Most young adults with these symptoms do not have a serious disease, and if it was something serious it likely would have become more evident now after 2 years. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

I've heard extreme cardio can damage the heart (ex marathons, etc). Would 10 miles at 7 min/mi every other day for two years do the same?

How can I boost my immune system? I keep on getting sick because I work around sick patients every day, for the past two years. Taking too much abx.
Hard to boost immune: System. If you work around sick people (as anyone in health care field does) the best protection is to wash your hands frequently (but moisturize afterwards)&don't touch your eyes or nose. I know of no specific way to boost an otherwise healthy immune system. Other than eating healthfully, exercising, &getting 7-8 hrs. Sleep. Which can be hard to do in our busy world-but are so important. . ...Read more
Have been taking adderal for the past two years but for the past two weeks I’ve been feeling tired after taking it especially when I’m doing my work.
I have what I believe to be "back mice" and I'm 27 years old and experiencing bad back pain (haven't been to work for two weeks) could these be cause?
Some people get nodules under the skin that feel firm, roll around under the finger, and sometimes hurt. Is that what you are calling 'back mice'. Back mice are not a cause of back pain.
Get checked out by a doc to make sure it's nothing serious, and if not, get active again. The worst response to pain is lie around and get disabled. If its a problem, treat it. If not, get active. ...Read more
Can I do heavy cardio work outs as I have been operated appendicitis ten years back does it effect any wats now with heavy workouts?
My bilirubin is sometimes slightly elevated. It's usually just indirect but there have been a few times when direct was 0.3 instead of under 0.2. U/s normal, blood work normal. Goes to normal after eating. Gilbert's? Been 3 years since last test. Feel fine
Direct bilirubin: Gilbert's syndrome is a the most common hereditary cause of increased bilirubin. It is a genetic condition found in up to 5% of the population. Gilbert's syndrome rarely causes symptoms. However, in Gilbert's, it is the direct (unconjugated) bilirubin which is elevated. ...Read more
I have lipase levels that fluctuate from the high end of normal to 20 points over the ref range for the past two years. Normal U/S and CT scan. All other blood work normal, including amalayse. Should I have an EUS or MRCP done? Causing anxiety.
No need to worry: Since your lipase levels are only minimally raised, have been so for two years at least, are associated with a normal serum amylase (and U/S and CAT scan), and are occurring in a patient who is asymptomatic--all argue for nothing serious. It probably represents low grade pancreatitis. Do you drink? Diabetic? Are you on birth control pills? Do you have gluten-related problems? No need for EUS/MRCP ...Read more
If my calcium level (blood work) has been from 9.5-10 for the last year, but two weeks ago it was 10.3 should I be worried? I'm 30 years old.
Relax: This varies some in health. 10.3 is often the upper limit of normal, so get checked yearly. If you're a little dry / thirsty, it'll go up some; if you've been sick and your albumin is a bit down, it'll go down. And it varies some just with what you may have eaten recently. Best wishes. ...Read more

My daughter is two years Old. Her blood work shows that her iron is at 11.6 mg. Is that good or bad.
Iron: Double check her results. Is that her iron level or hemoglobin level or transferrin level? The actual iron level is generally expressed as a percentage or mcg/dl or mmol/L. A single value from a CBC isn't as helpful - taken as a complete panel (MCV etc) more inferences can be made. Ask your pediatrician to go over the results of the blood work with you so that you may better understand. ...Read more
Can hypothyroidism fix itself? I havnt taken medication in two years (bad I no) but when I had blood work done my levels were normal
It depends: There are a few reasons for hypothyrodism. If it was due to a viral infection (thyroiditis) which means the thyroid gland gets inflamed, the function goes initially up, then down, then normal, then yes, usually after 2-3 months it resolves. If your thyroid function is normal on the blood test and you feel normal (no fatigue, lethargy, weight loss/gain, hair loss/gain, dry skin), then you're ok. ...Read more
