If somebody has shortness of breath, but a pulse oxi meter gives healthy results, is it still possible to be cardiac related shortness of breath?
Yes: I am assuming you are referring to an oxygen saturation. All that lets you know is that the oxygen coming in is oxygenating your blood. Given your age, it seems unlikely you are having anything cardiac related. Looks like they have been looking into it further with the holter monitor and the echocardiogram. Effect, not cause: Shortness of breath is a symptom. It can be caused by alot of different things. Some of those things could cause sudden cardiac death. For example, a heart attack can present as shortness of breath and lead to sudden death. A pulmonary embolism can cause sob and lead to death. But also remember, alot of benign things can cause sob. Chest pain not from : Chest pain possibly from ASHD or blocked coronary arteries. What showed possible old heart attack if this was an ekg this is not that accurate. If it was and echocardiogram or cardiac sonogram that showed prior heart muscle damage that is probable accurate.
