Why is there contradictory studies on nearly every health topic? One study says omega 3 is good and then another says it offers no benefits. What's up

Poor research design: and poor journalism are the answers. If you look closely at many of the headline studies you will see that the dose or quality of the supplement used is not correct or that the population being studied is already largely ailing or very old. Grave's Disease: You should not have any fears of taking tapazole (methimazole). The medication has been around for over 30 years and works well for the treatment of grave's disease. There are no proven natural treatments for grave's disease. You should not stop omega 3s or vitamins, however, during your treatments. The disorder should resolve in 1-2 years and you should no longer need the tapazole (methimazole). Do not fear taking this. ...Read more

Not so far: There hasn't yet been a study directly comparing omega 3 fatty acids to antidepressant treatment -- so we can't conclude the 2 are equivalent or that efa's are better. However, there are some meta-analyses suggesting that omega 3's --especially when epa is 1-2 g/day over dha -- are effective. Efa's have not been used alone in these studies, tho'.
