Sucralfate 4 ulcer: It is a medication used to treat stomach/duodenal ulcers, to prevent it, or to treat those with severe oral ulceration (epidermolysis bullosa). It is a relatively safe medication, but not as effect as other medication such as the famous purple pill. Some people do benefit from it and so still in use. Have fun learning. Possible Interaction: Carafate (sucralfate) is often prescribed in conjunction with other acid-controlling medications such as PPI's like omeprazole. Sucralfate can make it harder for the body to absorb PPIs. If you do, try to take the two medications 30-60 minutes apart. The burning arms is difficult to explain. Overall, discontinuing this less common medication for GERD, and asking your doctor for alternatives might be best. ...Read more

Yes, safe: It is usually taken for 6-12 weeks but sometime longer depending on ulcer healing. It is a safe medication. The ingredient aluminium mostly stays in your stomach and hardly any, if at all, amount goes into your system. So dont worry about toxicity. ...Read more
