Had car accident. Everyone looked at me. Im great driver at 74. Is this ageism?

Ageism?: If you are otherwise healthy with a clean driving record, there should be no reason to suspect your age is the cause of the accident. Age is not a cause of car accidents. Some conditions that cause accidents may be more common at certain ages, such as difficulty with vision or hearing. ...Read more

Every time I ride in a car, whether I am the driver or not I get anxious. Almost to the point where I wanna vomit because I'm so nervous.

Consider: Cognitive behavioral therapy to work past this. Breath in slowly & deeply through your nostrils. Fill your lungs with air (but not to the point of discomfort). Hold for a count of five then slowly begin to exhale through an open mouth. Repeat at least 12 times, longer if you need to. ...Read more

Tough Q: Without a lot of history issues of cause are hard to assess - if it si recent change or getting worse, it woudl be wise to rule out a medical cause - possibly consulting with and ENT to rule out vestibular system problems. I have a trip that will take 12 hr. driving on freeways. How do I reduce my strong anxiety about the chance of a car crash? I'm not the driver.

Make sure you're: with a safe driver. If not, rethink the trip. If the driver is good, and it’s your thoughts that are creating the anxiety, try saying to yourself “you are going to be okay” “we are safe, calm down and relax”, etc. Breathe deeply and think these thoughts instead. Listen to favorite music. Sing. Play games in the car to distract yourself (use google to find). Listen to a mindfulness CD or app. ...Read more

I lost 2.5 hours of my day today. Woke up slumped over in drivers seat of my car. Felt very confused and almost "roofied". Could it be a seizure?

I would be hesitant: To try to guess. See your have had an eeg/mri/mra of brain ; are on lamictal. Are you being worked up for a seizure disorder or are you currently diagnosed with a seizure disorder? Are you currently being followed by a neurologist? This situation warrants a go through with a fine toothed comb- not a guess by a physician on the internet. Take care. ...Read more
