Have diarrhea and stomach virus. Do I have to use back up contraception? Im taking mononessa birth control pills
Depends: If you are taking antibiotics, you might need a back up method. Some antibiotics increase the metabolism of the birth control pills in the liver so they are cleared from the body faster making them less effective. I'm currently taking birth control for heavy bleeding but since i got a virus flu and lots of vomiting my birth controls not working any more?
OCs and Vomiting: If you are throwing up the pills soon after ingestion, it is likely you are "missing" one or more days of your cyclical therapy. It is best to consult with your gynecologist who can analyze your drug formulation and advise you about the risks of conception. It would be wise to use an alternative method of birth control until you and your gynecologist can sort out the details. ...Read more

Injectible iron: You're a grown-up now with some serious health problems including Graves's disease. It is extremely difficult for a vegan to enough iron & several other nutrients, and I would urge you to reconsider your involvement with this diet or at least to find a vegan-friendly physician to guide you. It seems to be costing you your health. Your physician can inject iron but it's unpleasant. Be wise. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is tutti frutti frozen yogurt okay after 24 hours of food poisining !? I don't wanna eat brat diet i'm kind of paranoid i might get sick again
Yes: It is best to avoid most dairy for awhile after food poisoning as you may temporarily not be able to digest lactose but yogurt has little lactose so should be ok. I don't advise the brat diet (best to avoid gluten for awhile too) but rice and other fruits ; veggies should be ok (though cooked veggies will be easier to digest now than raw veggies). ...Read more
I'm having some extremely bad cramps while taking active birth control pills of Seasonique, help?
Options: Try soaking in very warm bath, apply hot water bag to lower abdomen. Non-steriodal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like ibuprofen 600-800 mg or Naproxen 500 mg up to 3 times a day, are usually very helpful for cramps. If you are fairly sure that the Seasonique BCP are causing the cramping, you have the option of stopping the pills, and start a different BCP after having a period. ...Read more
