2 month old son cries non stop unless he's being held & people tell me i'm neglecting him for letting him sit & cry sometimes. Help?
? medical problem?: Have you talked to his pediatrician about this? If he likes to be held, it may that he likes to be upright and is battling something like ge reflux. This makes infants cry. Can also be from formula intolerance, exposure to second hand smoke, and others. It's ok to let baby cry for short periods, ie: finish your shower and get dressed, but prolonged ignoring of his crying not good for either of you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My 8month baby refuse to eat, or drink anything. 2 days with ocasional vomiting. Today with diharrea. She only wants to sleep or play. 2 wet diapers?
Dehysration/virus: Babies can get dehydrated very easily. She needs to have pedialyte at least an ounce per hour, by bottle cup syringe or however u can get it into her. No milk or milk products for 3 - 5 days, she is likely to have a relative lactose intolerance. If she does not urinate once every 12 hours, run to the ER. Make sure her soft spot on her head is not sunken in and that her mouth is moist and has tears ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Have baby checkedout: Without a physical exam-it is hard to say-but you should make sure that nothing is bothering infant-wet diaper, safety pin etc. If your evaluation is negative and infant still won;t eat-it is best to take infant to Pediatrician for evaluation to assure that there is no physical or anatomical reason for this behavior. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Dr.Farrell orders acute bronchiolitis due to RSV vaporizer at night saline&bulb suction encourage fluids smaller frequent feeds tylenol&albuterol as needed can I give my 3month old pedialyte&how much?
You may.: You may give pedialyte. However remember pedialyte does not provide enough calories. Pedialyte is not a medicine. It just helps to keep the hydration. If your 3 month old is taking feeds, it is better to continue breast-feeding. You can also express your breast milk and feed with a spoon in small amounts. I hope he/she gets better soon. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
5mo refuses to feed formula or trying solids. Will cry in hunger but when bottle is given won't drink it. This has been intermittent and I'm worried.
Get baby examined: Younger infants refuse feeding when they are sick or it is hurting to swallow. Infection/ inflammation in mouth or throat at this age is not common but a local yeast infection inside mouth can cause baby to refuse feeds.in the meantime try changing nipples or brand reconsider milk brand if it was changed recently. ...Read more

How can I soothe my 7mo olds gasping cough? She can't catch her breath, can't sleep & is very congested. Vapor, steam, saline, suction- nothing helps
Depends: Is the cough a barky sealy cough? Is your baby in distress? If in distress you should go to the er, if not in distress and it is a barky sealy cough going outside in the cold works better than steam . It sounds like croup that gets progressively worse over 3 days , is worse at night then starts to improve. If you are worried, go to theer. ...Read more
19mth old who is projectile vomiting tries drinking just to loose it 10 min later, tries eating but comes up to, and watery diarrhea do I take him in?
Take him in: Mel, if your child is not keeping food or drink down, the best thing to do is to take him in. The major risk is dehydration. If he will at least take sips of fluids (1-2 oz at a time) at home and can keep that down, then you may watch him closely for the next 24 hours for improvement. If you notice that he is not producing tears or not producing much urine, he is dehydrated, & he should be seen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 1yr old eats cheese&yogurt but poops 3x more w/trans frm similac adv to 1/3 wh milk. I can eat cheese but can't eat liquid dairy-ie.Ice cream, why?
Lactose sensitivity?: Comercial baby formulas all tend to be constipating when that is the baby's main source of nutrition. Changing to milk may alter the stooling pattern temporarily. Also, people can have varying levels of lactose sensitivity, and can tolerate dairy products if taken in smaller amounts. The character of bowel movements; hard, soft, liquid, is more important than number of stools. ...Read more
My 6 month old sleeps 1-3 hours and wakes up crying. I have to hold her upright to sleep. We tried gas drops, gripe water, now chamomille tea. Now what?
Check her ears: "jack-in-the-box" syndrome is often seen in kids w/ ear infection or ear pain. After being down for 90min, they pop up screaming. Then ear pressure is reduced & they return to sleep only to repeat the cycle all night or w/each nap. Reflux is certainly also possible for the same reason. Pressure in the head and stomach build when lying flat. Check in with your pediatrician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
