No: Candida albicans is a fungal infection that occurs in the mouth or genital areas. It usually is associated with antibiotics that kill off bacteria allowing fungi to grow unchecked. Likely yes.: If this is a result from a pap test, then fungus was identified in the slide made from the sample. In many instances, that may correlate to a clinical "yeast" infection. If you are asymptomatic, you should ask your health care provider as to whether or not antifungal therapy / ointment is necessary. ...Read more

Don't know if I have yeast or candida yeast infection. Taking Monistat n probiotics. Should I go on candida diet just in case???
Candida is yeast: Candida albicans is responsible for yeast infections. If you are not sure what is causing your symptoms I suggest seeing your doctor to confirm and rule out any other causes. There have been no real studies on the Candida diet that I am aware of. If you get the diagnosis confirmed there is no harm in trying it. Avoiding lots of sugar, white flour and processed foods is a good idea for us all. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Infant black tongue. Tried nystatin, then swabbed for culture and tried fluconazole, no yeast on culture. Dr said iron stain? Doesn't get supplement.
Prob okay, but...: hairy black tongue can occur in infants because of infection or failure of the tongue papillae (bumps) to properly shed their cells like it should. it is important to distinguish if the black could be melanin, since that might indicated a skin disorder. black 'spots' can also be a sign of a genetic condition, so it is important to have this evaluated further, likely with biopsy. ...Read more
Does vagisil work for yeast infections, thrush, irritation, itchiness, redness, burning on the vagina?
Vagisil: Vagisil is an otc (over the counter) preparation only, and has no antifungal medication in it, so it won't "treat" a yeast infection. It is a mild topical anesthetic (benzocaine) and merely treats the symptoms. You will need a prescription from your doctor to treat the yeast, if present. ...Read more
CULT & GRAM STAIN SPUTUM ,is this type of test is good to look for actinomyces ,mold and fungis?I
Need more info: This organism can be difficult to isolate since they are facultative anaerobes, but the Gram's stain of clinical materials is usually very very suggestive, depending upon the site from which the specimen was obtained. This is a common cause of osteomyelitis of the bones of the jaw. Routine cultures are not a good way to look for molds and other fungi except for yeast-like fungi. Good luck. ...Read more

Be persistent and ask questions if you still don' t understand something. ...Read more
