It depends: Rebound anxiety is not inevitable, although there are many individuals who do experience it. A lot depends on the rate of tapering, the dosage before tapering, how long someone has been taking the medication and the severity of their anxiety. At times it is also unclear how much rebound is due to the med vs situational. I recommend expecting mild to moderate short-term symptoms with a plan to cope. ...Read more

Help! Dr Tapered me off zyprexa (olanzapine) and Adderall too quickly due to worse depression.? Day 23 severe WD. Took 5mg of Adderall helped. Dopamine depletion?
Unlikely: Dopamine depletion is a relic of the 1980's. Much too simplistic an answer as synaptic neurotransmission is only one part of the story as we now know (i.e. CREP, epigenetics, non-synaptic neurotransmission, etc). Taking Adderall and Zyprexa (olanzapine) together makes me wonder what you are being treated for and by whom. ...Read more

Dormant HIV: Unfortunately, some of the cells the virus infects can lie 'dormant' for >13 years. Our hope was that treating the virus would rid our patients of the infection in time but we need to make those latent cells infected w/virus 'apoptose' or die ; prevent new immature cells from being infected. It has been more difficult than we anticipated but work is actively being done. We have hope! ...Read more
