Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more

I agree with your Da: It is quite common to have palpable lymph nodes in the groins. Unless they are larger than 2 cm and progressively increasing in size over a period of 2-3 months, you can ignore them as benign. ...Read more

I have 3 groin lumps so I had a pap smear it hurt badly for the first time ever I have had an abnormal pap before and have hpv. Could it be cancer?

Possible, not likely: What you describe would no likely be cancer, but would more likely be an infection. The groin lumps would probably be enlarged lymph nodes. However, some pelvic cancers do spread to the groin lymph nodes - so it is possible. See your doctor to find out what is going on. ...Read more

I have pea sized lump in left of neck and was a pea sized lump in right groin but now size of marble, cancer? Or what could this be?

See a physician!: Your doctor will ask you many detailed questions - including what the time span of enlargement has been and your medical history. In combination with a physical exam (of your entire body, including special attention to the consistency of those ymph nodes) and probably some tests, your doctor will narrow down the range of possibilities. ...Read more

Seen 2 Drs about a groin lump. Both said it was a reactive node. How long will the swelling last? 3rd week now. Still worrying about cancer.

Lymph node enlarged: In general lumps in the groin can be present and up to 1.5 or 2 cm in size. They are generally reactive but low grade lymphomas (lymph node cancer) can present like this. It is however a condition that we generally watch and don't jump into treatment. I 'd wait for another week, if the node is growing then I will recommend removing it as a a biopsy. For now your 2 doctors are correct. ...Read more

Check the skin: Make sure to check your skin all along your leg, including your foot for anything that could be causing the reactive node. Also make sure to ask about the possibility of a hernia. If nothing, and your still worried, you could have it surgically removed and sent to a pathology lab to find out for sure. Hope this helps! ...Read more

What to do if I have a hardened lump on my left thigh, near my groin, is it cancer?

Possible, unlikely: Need more information. How long has it been there? Painful? Growing? Any others? Drainage? Other symptoms that you may not think related (growth on penis or testicles, difficulty urinating) may be connected. A blocked sweat gland (cyst) or an enlarged lymph node for benign reasons is much much more common. See your primary doctor, get ultrasound, and see a surgeon. Good luck! ...Read more

Movable lump in right crease groin about olive size. Pain in both knees and thigh comes and goes usually worse when siting for long periods. Cancer?

Movable lump in right crease groin about olive size. Pain in both knees and thigh comes and goes usually worse when siting for long periods. Cancer?

Lymph node.: The movable lump in your groin is probably a lymph node. That size (olive, about 1cm) can be normal or abnormal, so it should be checked by a doctor. Your knee pain sounds like arthritis. I don't think the two are related. Since a lymph node like that can be related to cancer, get that checked right away. It's probably fine, but better safe than sorry! ...Read more

Elongated, olive sized lump on inner left thigh near groin. Can pinch with fingers. Slightly tender, not painful. Not STI, recently tested. Cancer?

Lymph glands: These are regional strainers of the body fluids (not blood) that pass within and between your tissues. Their location points to what they work with. Groin nodes sift through the fluids in your leg. Bug bites, a rash, skin infections, on the involved leg will trigger growth in these glands that lasts weeks until the trigger fades. Increasing pain or color changes signal likely infection. ...Read more

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. How could I know if I have a cancer on my groin?

Groin cancer?: I assume you are referring to enlarged nodes in the groin and whether they can be cancer. The answer is yes, lymphomas and other cancers starting in the extremities or pelvis can go to the groin (inguinal) nodes. However, many other inflammatory or infectious problems can enlarge those nodes as well (that ain't precisely a clean area). See a doc to be evaluated properly. Best to you. ...Read more
