Not able to detect.: Several instruments are used for examining the rectum and then colon. The anal canal is examined with an anoscope being several inches long. confirmation is by digital exam. Need more info: Although it can happen, spread of a colon cancer to the ovary after her resection seems unlikely. Follow up with the cancer specialists and ob/gyn. No, but...: But very suspicious for colon cancer. If your friend is similar in age to yourself a mass in the colon on ct scan is cancer until proven otherwise. And cea levels can go up for other reasons but, given the mass, they would strongly favor cancer. But to answer your question "no"... They are not definitive.
